Putin has strengthened political unanimity for him in Russia, while strengthening its military and economic power significantly. His peace proposal is reasonable end, but the strategic patience failure is not threatening US bases in Europe to stop their Russophobia propaganda and full NATO responsibility for the war, and end the war more forcefully on that front. The only viable political rulership alternative in Russia is one that threatens a permanent end to EU stupidity.

Peace in Ukraine with Russian demilitarization is opportunity for economic discontent to invest in peaceful economy more, and then call Putin a klepto if he fails to keep economy strong and pluralist.

Yea the economic opportunities will be great. Just imagine if china took over russia - so many great economic opportunities. russia should just totally cease to exist and cede all their land to china. It makes so much economic sense.

Strongest alliance in the world, with trade balance likely to surpass US-Canada (currently 1/3rd that level). The last 2 empires that attempted a Russia invasion were exterminated as a direct result of the foolishness. Peace in Ukraine is not going to anger China. Russia selling all of its stuff is not bad for Russia. Your fantasy wedge is just western propaganda.

Is it again that this loyalist just wants the war to go better, not that they want the war not to have happened?

Sometimes these things are also a trap. Someone will deliberately be positioned to make a public opposition stand, just to flush out anyone who would support them.

That takes guts. Good for him.

I felt that was necessary to say at least once amid all the grim comments about how welp he’s fuckin dead. I mean there’s truth to that but it shouldn’t be the sum total of our reaction to this.

It does. It’s such an abrupt about-face that I can see why everyone initially thought it was staged. It’s like a gazelle turning round and headbutting a chasing lion or something. Maybe he just received a terminal diagnosis and thought ‘fuck it’?

I was thinking rather of hyenas circling a lion, each one nipping at a heel, a tail, an ear, none quite confident enough yet to bum rush the fucker all at once… Except they’re all just hamsters… Nasty, evil little fucking hamsters, ready to rip each other to shreds 🐹

Ah, but you also thought you left Reddit behind… Only to experience the same lame ass cliche jokes and same hive mind down vote brigades and I believe I hear the mod being summoned for dinner with the roommates. Lemmy sure did crap out awful fast.

I’m not entirely certain (because Telegram is disrupted and it’s harder to get information from Russia), but I think this bears some relation to RosKomNadzor f**ing with Telegram and mobile internet in general, recently also in the Moscow region (arguably because the sky is full of Ukrainian drones, but perhaps for additional reasons).

Two political principles applicable to Russia:

    • don’t take people’s alcohol away from them, sober people will do rational things
    • don’t take Telegram, people depend on it and will be angry, possibly forgetting how to lie

The rats are fleeing. I’ve been hearing rumors about an internal power struggle and a possible silent coup. Putin is now extremely paranoid and this is bound to start backfiring. This is yet another little puzzle piece to this.
