Trump is such a master negotiator. Betray our allies, threaten to leave the UN, stop all cyber security operations against Russian, lift sanctions against Russia that are working, block Ukraine from joining the UN, and say that any chance of ending the war has to result in Ukraine ceding stolen territory.
All before negotiations even start. What a mastermind.
I’ve been trying to think what the Trump / Vance plan was. Like you said, it was obvious that Vance was there to pick a fight. But I couldn’t tell if they were legitimately trying to blow up diplomatic relations like they did, or if they thought they were going to get the upper hand in exploring Ukraine for their natural resources.
Either way, it was disgusting to watch.
I guess technically there are people who are still 25 that were born in the 1900s. So not completely unreasonable.
But yeah, as someone born in the 1900s and not anywhere near my 20s, I just wanted to share what hopefully is a common experience:
Like many people, I got a new driver’s license when I turned 21. Being 21, I was in the best shape of my life, looked nice and fit, still had hair, etc.
Fast forward 10 years when I need a license renewal, and I can just do it all online, no need for a new picture. Fast forward another few years when life has taken it’s toll a bit - no longer in good shape, hair is a distant memory, etc. I went out to a restaurant and ordered a beer, and the waitress goes “this ID doesn’t look like you at all.”
Oof.
Suck on my chocolate salty baaaaaaaaaawllllsss
What’s a teaboot?
This is a bit of the classic “both sides being the same” argument. The first article you linked even calls it out.
In the Fox case, Carlson was presenting his own narrative, not even one extrapolating from known facts.
Maddow was like “hey this journalist is working for Putin and writing for OAN. OAN is Russian propaganda.” When in reality, the journalist in question wrote for Sputnik News, which is affiliated with the Russian government. Granted it is a bit of a stretch to say all of OAN is Russian propaganda.
Carlson, on the other hand, just completely made up a story about Karen McDougal blackmailing Trump. A completely made up story.
So yeah, I wouldn’t go saying both sides are the same here.
Hegseth said Trump was “the best negotiator on the planet”.
If that’s the case, why are they starting from the position that they’ll yield Ukraine’s territory and will not allow them in NATO? That’s kindergarten levels of negotiating here.
I remember going out at night then leaving my jeans on my bathroom floor, then in the morning the whole bathroom would smell like an ashtray. It was the worst!
Unfortunately it’s still like that at my in-laws houses. Whenever they send our kids birthday or Christmas presents in the mail, we have to air out the packages for a few days.
Any idea what that says at the bottom?
I’ve seen the original meme a few times, but did a double take with the face swap. Now if only someone can swap him out doing his Nazi salute.
Kind of true if you just read news headlines as well. Lots of sane washing occurs around Trump where he’ll say something absolutely batshit insane and the media picks it apart to make it sound like a cohesive policy.
Dammit this just made me think of Brooklyn 99 on Netflix. They have season 1-4, with season 4 ending on a cliffhanger. My wife and I were watching it and didn’t realize there were more seasons. We watched it and we’re like “what the fuck kind of series ending is that?!”
Turns out the rest is only on Peacock, which has ad breaks every couple minutes. It’s the wooooorst.

I think a lot of the problems with the current administration wouldn’t change if Trump was Luigied. Dismantling our federal institutions, consolidating power in the executive branch, stripping away human rights - all those things would continue.
However, I think that the support for Putin nearly exclusively comes from Trump himself.
