  • I guess technically there are people who are still 25 that were born in the 1900s. So not completely unreasonable.

But yeah, as someone born in the 1900s and not anywhere near my 20s, I just wanted to share what hopefully is a common experience:

Like many people, I got a new driver’s license when I turned 21. Being 21, I was in the best shape of my life, looked nice and fit, still had hair, etc.

Fast forward 10 years when I need a license renewal, and I can just do it all online, no need for a new picture. Fast forward another few years when life has taken it’s toll a bit - no longer in good shape, hair is a distant memory, etc. I went out to a restaurant and ordered a beer, and the waitress goes “this ID doesn’t look like you at all.”

    Oof.

  • This is a bit of the classic “both sides being the same” argument. The first article you linked even calls it out.

In the Fox case, Carlson was presenting his own narrative, not even one extrapolating from known facts.

Maddow was like “hey this journalist is working for Putin and writing for OAN. OAN is Russian propaganda.” When in reality, the journalist in question wrote for Sputnik News, which is affiliated with the Russian government. Granted it is a bit of a stretch to say all of OAN is Russian propaganda.

Carlson, on the other hand, just completely made up a story about Karen McDougal blackmailing Trump. A completely made up story.

So yeah, I wouldn’t go saying both sides are the same here.

Dammit this just made me think of Brooklyn 99 on Netflix. They have season 1-4, with season 4 ending on a cliffhanger. My wife and I were watching it and didn’t realize there were more seasons. We watched it and we’re like “what the fuck kind of series ending is that?!”

Turns out the rest is only on Peacock, which has ad breaks every couple minutes. It’s the wooooorst.
