Well you’ll get a broken game on the disc because it’s missing the day 1 45GB patch. Even worse is that a system update that doesn’t exist yet may be needed to even play the game properly.
Bahahaha, savage. 🤣
My copium is that they’re not releasing the Steam Frame because they’re finishing HL3 which will be a launch title, playable in VR or flat.
Given what a banger HL: Alyx was - definitely the best VR title that I played, at least - that would be incredibly hype. Heck, I’d just take HL: Alyx 2.
Alyx is not my favorite VR game, but I do think it is the best VR game made. It is so immersive that there were many times playing it where I genuinely forgot I was playing a game. My first playthrough I played the entire last half, from exiting the Northern Star all the way through the end, in one hours long session and by the time I took off my headset I felt like I didn’t quite know who I was, where I was, or what the F just happened. I felt a little disoriented and off kilter for like 2 days afterwards. 10/10 experience, highly recommend.
Or they’re just fighting to get Alyx to run directly on the headset because of course everyone will try to do that despite any warnings.
I gave up hope when Marc Laidlaw posted his story treatment years ago. It might come some day, but it will be something closer to a reboot or a remake, a totally new generation’s take on an old franchise. Not saying that it will automatically be bad, it could be good, but it will also be different.
I’ve been avoiding reading that because I still hold out hope. I think some community effort started up to do it; I wonder how that is going?
Coincidentally there was a Half-Life 2: Episode 3 leak the other day
You mean the file dump that hasn’t actually been shown to have episode 3 stuff in it or something else?
I think there was some unused assets for the scrapped version of Portal 2 which may or may not have been shared with a potential HL2: Episode 3 or something. Which is like, meh? Close enough for headline writers to go nuts, anyway.
The 12TB Steam dump that supposedly has stuff, I admittedly didn’t look into it since it’s not really my interest
I believe the news was “we haven’t looked through all of it yet so we can’t guarantee there ISN’T any episode 2 stuff”
Right, because Boromir went to the alternate future where Valve continued making games… rather than just selling everyone else’s.
If capitalism taught us anything, it’s that middle-manning is the most efficient way to make money for doing basically nothing. 🤢
Based.
