I think I’m just unclear on what exactly it is that I’m supposed to be stocking up on, it’s not like the supermarket sell MREs. I mean I have tinned soup and ravioli and stuff but that still needs power to heat up. So I’m really just left with crackers and biscuits and things and bottled water but even that has a shelf life.

Isn’t it over now it’s coming into September. I don’t imagine there’s going to be many heat wave through a while.

All I said was that it makes sense for Ukraine to issue warnings for other aircraft who not enter Russian airspace during a war that they started.

You’re assuming a rational actor. Putin isn’t a rational actor, a rational actor wouldn’t have started this war.

There are some in the Russian leadership that are pushing put into towards nuclear weapons, been overly antagonising seems counterproductive.

The only way this war ends is by Russia being so economically damaged by their own war effort that they have no choice but to give in, quite possibly after a military coup. But that will happen on Russia’s timetable, there is no point going to them with a bad proposal that they won’t agree to, when they want to call it quits they’ll deal with it on their own.

Until then the war continues. No one’s happy about that but it’s better than any of the alternatives.

The whole point about closing the airspace over Russia is so civilians don’t get accidentally shot down.

Well Russia started the war so obviously they’ve got to be the innocent ones, stands to reason.

I don’t think anyone was suggesting the ukrainians would do that. Buuuut if a Chinese aircraft ended up colliding with a drone after being warned not to fly in Russian airspace, well then it’s just an unfortunate accident and it could have been avoided had they heeded the warning.

That’s just how the UK political system is, it’s not a sign of instability. We really do need to change our truly broken political system but that’s more about fairness and an actual representative government, than it is protecting us from from fascism.

It’s an insane proposal and probably would result in the destruction of Europe if implemented. But you know, other than that it’s a great idea.

It lets Russia walk away with no repercussions and no incentive not to do it again. Essentially it gives Russia all the time and money it needs to rebuild without actually resolving any of the conflict. Without a change in leadership in Russia, the possibility of this starting up again always exists.

Given that, we might as well just maintain the status quo since currently Russia can’t attack Europe because it’s too busy losing a war in Ukraine.

So now Russia has no incentive not to start the war all over again 5 to 10 when they rebuild

I don’t know where you’re getting this view from. Of course this right wing extremists, there always has been, but they’re no more likely to achieve power now than they were 10 years ago. If anything trump’s antics have brought their behavior into sharp relief. Since everyone can see how much of a disaster and extremist right-wing government would now be, because they’re all exactly like Trump.
