    • 72,996 Palestinians killed by Israel (7 Oct 2023–14 Jun 2026, (UNRWA)
    • 46,590 Ukrainian civilians killed by Russia (24 Feb 2022–31 May 2026 (OHCHR)

According to ACLED, from 7 Oct 2023 - December 5, 2025, Israel attacked these countries (There have been many more attacks since then): (LINK)

    • Gaza and the occupied West Bank 8,332 times
    • Lebanon 1,653 times
    • Iran 379 times
    • Syria 207 times
    • Yemen 48 times
    • Qatar once
    • Tunisian waters twice, Maltese and Greek waters once each

Countries attacked by Russia since 24 Feb 2022 - Ukraine

Sanctions on Russia: 20 Sanction Packages

Sanctions on Israel by EU and HERE (harder to find any) 3 Sanction Packages

Israel war crimes in the war on Gaza. They’ve cut electricity, fuel, food and water to Gaza’s population and severely curtailed life-saving humanitarian aid, all of which are acts of collective punishment. The ICC has issued arrest warrants naming Israeli leaders and alleging war crimes and crimes against humanity (including starvation as a method of warfare). They have also been accused multiple times of attempting genocide. Israel is accused of the gravest war crimes - how governments respond could haunt them for years to come

I can’t find any accusations of Russia using white phospherous - EDIT (thanks @[email protected])

The two wars are different in that The war in Ukraine is a state-to-state conflict, while the one in Gaza shows an asymmetric war in the besieged enclave

FACTBOX - Ukraine and Gaza wars compared

The Israeli wars are just dirtier than anything most have seen or heard of. In the UK you are more likely to be awarded something for protesting against the Russian invasion of Ukraine than anything else. But protesting against the more violent, more aggressive and more illegal wars commited by Israel will likely get you arrested and possibly treated as a terrorist.

    Let that sink in.

In the UK if you protest against a genocide in another country, the government have ordered the Police to arrest you.

Good comparison and data, but I’d like to point out that the leading stats are actually 16k civilians killed in Ukraine (and 46k injured), as per the source. While in Gaza there are 72k direct deaths and 172k injured (mostly civilians and 50% women and children)

It’s disgusting how Western governments still approach one country with all possible sanctions, and the other is just business as usual (and finger wagging if we’re “lucky”).

There are so many sources citing different figures, I just picked the one that is mostly used by media. Also, it is believed that the figures in Gaza are much higher than the figures that the data shows. But without proof, I didn’t/couldn’t link it.

Edited. Thanks. Wasn’t whitewashing Russia at all. I used Qwant, DDG, Google, and even asked a couple of AI bots, but couldn’t find anything about Russia using it. But I never said that they didn’t, because I am well aware that they commit war crimes too.

Huh. Thats concerning if those kind of general searches about russian warcrimes are being suppressed. For reference, I remembered the bakhmut thing offhand so my search query for the article I linked was something super specific like “2023 bakhmut phosphorous”

Yeah, I’ll have a look through my history and see how I phrased it, but it was something like “accusations of Russia using white phospherous or illegal weapons and war crimes” in a few different ways.

ai was useless (no surprises) but thought I would see if it spat out anything different anyway. They just asked me for reference links to feed them with. Which I obviously didn’t have.

The part where OP said there havent been any accusations of russia using white phosphorous bombs. There is proof of russia using those weapons in bakhmut in 2022, which is what I linked to.

Maybe he really didn’t know that russia used it too. I still don’t see strong evidence of him whitewashing Russia especially with his links about gross russian war crimes.

You can debate the word whitewash, but his point is valid - op said no WP, but there is evidence of WP.

Op also said that the comparison of condemnation can still be valid without the WP point.

I didn’t say no WP, I said I couldn’t find any accusations of it… and I couldn’t. But I have now added that link anyway.

Would you look at that, a wild genocide connoisseur appeared!

Go fucking extinct with your comparisons of human suffering. The only thing you prove is your own lack of morals. The only thing you achieve is total disrespect to those suffering.

I was not comparing the wars for the wars. I was going to explain at the end, I ran out of time, but I naively thought it would be understood. I can only say what was in my head when I posted it. Or you did understand it, and approve of what’s happening.

I am not (I thought obviously) condoning any war.

I’m not saying that one war is “better” or “worse” than any other war.

My main point (really, my only point) is that Starmers government compared the two and decided that one is bad and the other is good.

Despite all the atrocities that Israel do (which I was trying to accentuate in the post) - People are getting locked up as terrorists for agreeing with Palestine action.

        it’s fucking ridiculous

in the UK we can be arrested for protesting against a genocide.

Nothing ambiguous about it. Insert family guy skin color swatches meme. You might be looking for the term “hypocrisy” instead.

Some of the politicians are definitely hypocrites yeah. And racism counts for some of it as well. But mainly I think it is good ol’ imperialism at work. The politicians feel they have to support Israel and they don’t know what to do about the genocide, and simply ignore it. This is not an excuse. Everyone complicit needs to go to the Haag.
