Seriously every other post, every sub seems like nothing but politics. It’s so boring and disgusting. What made reddit great at one time was the diversity of genres and depth. Lemmy is very shallow and politically motivated it seems. I have been here since the Reddit exodus. It’s always been this way.

Do different Lemmy servers have different content?

Are certain severs curated?

Where do I find the depth and deep subject matter.

Not enough people that aren’t interested in politics present here to engage more actively in non-political communities. Lemmy or PieFed still haven’t reached even 1 million of users. While Reddit in glory days had dozens of millions users(not bots).

Because everyone wants to run around thinking they’ve got everything figured out for the world or their country, at the comfort of their computer chair. And they’ll get validated in doing so, without having so much to lift a finger.

The main reason people moved out of reddit was a political one lol, of course we are going to get political here.

I think the big thing is you being on .ml, this is an explicitly communist server and as such is gonna have alot of focus on those topics

Besides politics it’s mostly technology, and humour. That’s basically because only a very specific person has chosen to be on Lemmy at this point.

Here’s a couple at random that are humour:

    [email protected]

    [email protected]

And here’s a couple that are something else:

    [email protected]

    [email protected]

You’ll notice it’s mostly .world, because it’s by far the biggest instance, and also not very political.

So you fled one billionaire-owned political echo chamber for an open-source lefty platform only to realize you actually just miss cat pics and woodworking tutorials.

Boring and disgusting? Sounds like you just don’t agree with lefty politics.

You can curate your own feed: use the block button for any communities you don’t want to see.

As for why there’s a lot of politics on lemmy: The west’s leading country just threatened to annihalate an entire civilization yesterday. Kind of a lot going on right now.

I find Lemmy to have barely any politics. I’m new to Lemmy though. If you haven’t been on Reddit lately, go visit that propaganda machine.

lemmy was created by the people who used to inhabit r/politics; r/socialism; r/communism; r/linux; and r/foss and they coalesced around lemmy.ml

lemmy.world has the bread-and-circuses that you’re looking for.

Yes. Along with all the rabid pro-western propaganda, chauvanism, unexamined privilege, and the insufferable confidence in mistaking naivete and ignorance for common knowledge. You know, all the stuff that should make you feel right at home if all you’re looking for is a reddit 2.0. Then again, there are a number of instances to choose from if that’s what you’re looking for, but .world remains the classic example.
