The word ‘apartheid’ has been thrown about a lot with Israel but it’s never quite been accurate as Palestine is another country.
But this is Apartheid. There is no weaseling around it. It’s 100% apartheid. Israel, go fuck yourselves.
It’s not another country in any real sense of the word; in practice both the West Bank and Gaza are semi-autonomous territories of Israel, the difference being that the West Bank is more or less obedient while Gaza is in rebellion. Palestine as a sovereign state is a legal fiction so in practice it’s all Apartheid.
I always took the term “apartheid state” to refer to the way Israel treats Palestinians both in the West Bank, which despite being a separate country is also under military occupation by Israel, and at home within Israeli borders

Genuinely despicable. Hopefully the courts will strike it down swiftly.
This is most likely a Right-wing plot to drive division in the Left leading up to elections. Many parties end up polling below the threshold, so in a contentious election they often merge to form larger parties and mutually benefit. If Left wing parties can’t form common ground to merge, then the Right stands to gain more seats without having to win more votes.
Any proof that this is uniquely rightwing? I couldn’t find a list of votes by political party or anything of the sort, and my understanding is that the Central Election Committee is at least in theory broadly representative of the Knesset as a whole.
