When Ukraine was invaded it had an army of approx 150k troops. Several hundred tanks. A couple of hundred aircraft. A couple of hundred rocket projectors.

None of it newer than the early 90s.

Russia had nearly a million troops, 12,000 tanks, several thousand aircraft, thousands and thousands of rocket projectors and heavy artillery.

And nuclear weapons.

Tell us again how they were evenly matched?

By any normal metric, Russia should have steamrolled Ukraine. The fact it didnt, even with that huge advantage means that any major european power (UK/France/Germany/Poland) could fend them off quite easily, even alone. But we aren’t alone, Russia would be trying to take us all off the board.

My brother is a conspiracy theorist, it’s absolutely impossible to talk to him about anything. No matter what evidence you produce, he’ll just ignore it.

The closest I got was when he mentioned the moon landings were faked and filmed on a sound stage. He pointed to the flag flapping “in the wind”.

I asked him why, if NASA had gone to all the trouble and expense of faking the moon landings, would they have installed a giant fan to make the flag flap…

I also won’t have anything to do with anyone who supports the likes of Nigel Farage or Tommy Robinson.

It’s been decades since the UK was cold and snowy enough for us to be able to build snow forts. Iirc it was possibly as far back as 1989.

The UK market is filling with electric cars from multiple manufacturers now. Cars made by actual car companies.

We have a mini as a run around. It is a better car in every way to a tesla. Range is excellent, handling is amazing and the build quality is what you’d expect from a premium vehicle.

Its actually a car. Not a test bed for unproven technology.

The law in the UK is that adult sites need to verify an individual’s age before allowing them access.

Banning people under a certain age from social media is arguably a lot stricter…

Personally I’d like to see a total global ban of social media.

Humans aren’t designed to communicate with this many people at once, and it shows.

If you want job security, flexible working, decent conditions, good pension then (in the UK at least) you work for the government.

If you want good pay then you leave.

Anything that encourages the sharing of small snippets of information, elevates the prominence of misinformation thanks to engagement algorithms and reduces discourse to simple 3 word responses have caused the most damage.

So facebook/instagram/tiktok/twitter.

Reddit wouldn’t count in my view. It encourages lengthier, more critical responses. Yes its an echo chamber in places but its also pretty easy to avoid toxic content.

Maybe we should throw America out, considering the amount of money we all spent defending them after 9/11 means they’re a debtor not a creditor.
