Yep my elementary school teacher’s cat died in the dryer too. Hearing that as a 5 year old, I have always kept in mind cats must stay away from the dryer.

My washing machine is always closed and my cats have no interest in it. Even still I always check where they both are before turning it on, a sense of dread grows on me every time even though I never had an accident, I don’t know why.

I don’t know about your cats but mine have shown no interest in wet laundry, or dirty laundry, only fresh warm dry laundry. But since my building’s laundry room is in the basement I don’t really have experience with having a machine in the house.

When I had kids I would fold the laundry down there, for a few quiet moments of feeling organized. Now I bring it up immediately and chirrup as I dump it on the spare bed so the cats can enjoy it first.

My cats will happily sit in a hamper with dirty clothes, they really like new surfaces to sit on in grneral. We have a ahem cleanup towel and our big orange loves to sit on that thing for some reason lmao.

She always checked. Until that one time she forgot.

She buried the cat and dug her up again in the middle of the night because she just couldn’t believe she was dead (she was, obviously).
