TLDR: it can but ask your vet first, not every tea is fine and let that shit cool down until you’d feel fine putting it on your eyes. And be gentle, don’t rub.
When I was a kid we had a bunch of strays living around the house. One if them had a fresh litter of kittens. And at least one of the kitten was sick. So she sorted him out and left him at the door we usually came through, when we fed the strays.
I was about to go to school when I found him and brought him back in. His eyes were totally crusty, he had some kind of chronic infection so we took him to the vet.
There my mother was taught the whole caring routine. He was just a few weeks old, still needed special kitty formula and to be cleaned throughly. And using chamomile tea bags to soften the eye boogers from his infection was part of it. Since he was so small he wasn’t actually fighting back. But I think his older version would have allowed it, if he was in the mood for contact (he sometimes had a mean streak).
Though he was chronically sick his whole life, he was the only one of the strays which turned out not to have FIV (though he was an outside cat). He was with us for over (partially very snotty) 20 years and will be forever remembered for sleeping head first in my older sister’s shoes and sneezing into my mother’s mouth.

I just wanted to add that I just heard that Camomile isn’t the preferred tea anymore, but rather Calendula.
It is a fundamental failure of reality that cats have life spans.
It’s not like they use a lot of energy, just let them live forever!
Apparently if we can figure out how to fix their kidneys they could live a loooot longer. They accumulate damage and can’t fix it and it hard limitd their lifespan. Either they die from kidney disease or some other problem caused by low/medium grade kidney damage for years.
Oh yes… my brother and his family took in my cat a few years ago. Both their kids grew up with her and they’re all inseparable. I fear the day she dies. But until then she’ll be loved :)

while the burrito may be a requirement, using teabags are stupid… its moist, relatively bacteria free from the boiling… thats all thats helping there.

No the caffeine is an astringent, and the local application allows maximum benefit with minimal systemic side effects. It’ll allow the warm moisture and slight friction to remove the gunk while minimally stimulating additional production.
Caffeine is drugs, y’all. It’s actually one of the most potent OTC medications available and it’s just in random recreational beverages like fucking cola drinks. Similarly to alcohol the main thing preventing stricter regulatory control is just how easy it is to grow / obtain (there’s at least three plants that produce it naturally). Panera’s charge lemonades were literally killing people a few years back lol people really be thinking legal vs illegal under our corrupt-ass mf government is any good measure of potency / abuse potential, when most of the social detriment of substance use stems directly from legal status. Honestly I have a theory that stimulant usage being overall less stigmatized than depressant usage is a product of capitalism’s constant glorification of “productivity.”

The best way is a wet tissue if it’s in the corner of the eye, or saline spray if it’s anywhere else
I just use my finger. But then again, one of my cats didn’t even flinch when they were taking samples from her eyes. Normally cats have to be anesthesia’d at least partially to perform that lol.
Yeah that’s what I do. Or use the corner of my shirt. If it’s an old T-shirt or something. Kinda gross but sometimes you gotta take the opportunity when it presents itself.
I was telling my friend the other day how I always said I never wanted kids. Yet I still ended up covered in boogers, cleaning up puke, and handling someone else’s poop.

The same way that I’ve ended up becoming an occasional rag for our baby to wipe her snout on in between mouthfuls of her mash, gotten wet stains from her frisking me for snacks (No, that’s not a carrot and you can’t eat it) or rejoice at the sight of healthy, solid horse apples that are easier to scoop up than trying to sweep up dried patties.
We adopted something cute and ended up adopting the gross right along with it.

Same. I do it while petting him. He gets lots of chin/cheek/nose rubs from me so she doesn’t even notice what I’m doing. Just thinks he’s being pet.

The difference between medicine and poison is the dosage and application. I don’t think the eyes are gonna quickly absorb enough to make it a problem.
