As an European, I’m confused what exactly associate partner is, because normally those countries are called European Economic Area countries (currently three - Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway). It just means you get the benefits of EU free trade while not being a member of the EU. In practice, anything you buy and sell with EU should become cheaper and easier.
Can NZ join? 😁 Although I dont know how much it would do for us, we arent too reliant on the USA for trade or defence anyway
