Keep hearing this about podcasts and youtubers and I don’t get it. Thinking that the people talking to a microphone or camera are your friends feels silly akin to thinking there’s a tiny orchestra in the earphones that sings for you. I get that people are gullible and believe media personalities are always truthful, but surely they don’t experience an actual friendship with people they’ve never seen?
Is this my version of “not having an inner momologue”?
I think it’s a basic podcasting technique* to have at least two people, one who delivers the content and bounces it off the other. It’s very nice when they switch roles or add things like “you read this next passage”.
If they have the right chemistry and enjoy themselves and do a lot of podcasting, it starts to feel familiar, also emotionally. I think that’s what the pic above refers to. But of course this applies to so many more things of art and entertainment.
* of course this not endemic to podcasts, probably comes from radio and before that …
I think it’s subconscious. It’s kind of a human thing to form relations with other humans (even if it’s one way) and our genes do not know about screens or youtube.
Never happened to me. I have supported some podcasts, but not because I want senpai to notice me!
I think it is. There are times when I’ve truoy felt like the person on the video/podcast is in the room with me (feeling wise), and times when I’ve wanted to butt in to the conversation.
Me watching dropout:
If the implication is that the boy thinks he’s really spending time with 3 icecream eating girls then I must disagree: podcasts make me feel exactly like that picture, not that boy.
edit: hmm it really depends on the podcast if that’s a good thing or not
To me it feels not much different than listening to a radio talk show or a debate on TV.
33 years ago I started a podcast. recorded, edited, and hosted from GeoCities. The topic was centered on the gaming industry.
I got called weird, stupid, and was told nobody will ever listen to your “radio show”.
fuck podcasts, fuck podcasters. you’re weird, stupid and nobody will ever listen to your “radio show”.
