China has approved a sweeping new law which claims to help promote “ethnic unity” - but critics say it will further erode the rights of minority groups.
On paper, it aims to promote integration among the 56 officially recognised ethnic groups, dominated by the Han Chinese, through education and housing. But critics say it cuts people off from their language and culture.
It mandates that all children should be taught Mandarin before kindergarten and up until the end of high school. Previously students could study most of the curriculum in their native language such as Tibetan, Uyghur or Mongolian.
Anecdotes and intuition are useful tools but hard evidence is more reliable.
China certainly has its share of bigots. While the majority of China’s Muslims are concentrated in Xinjiang, they have huge Muslim populations all over the country. Shanghai, despite being a relatively young city, has mosques that were built before Europeans discovered America. Muslims have been integrated into the myths and culture of China for centuries.
It’s a bit of a stretch to call the US, “the most barbaric country ever”. There are some horrific policies and practices here but history is full of horrors. Look up “the tree” from the killing fields if you want a depressing read. It’s also a stretch to say the treat Muslims better than China. When I wandered around various parts of China, Muslims would roll prayer mats out on the street to pray and nobody would bat an eye. Public parks frequently have enclosed prayer areas. China has more mosques than the US and Europe combined. I was only there for a month but I saw a bunch of Muslims and no signs of oppression.
While there are clearly problems with China, “fascism” is entirely the wrong word to describe it. The “forced labor” story has no backing. China has huge rural populations and a comparatively small (by population) but growing industrial and commercial sector. The overwhelming trend is that there’s a line of people for any job opening in cities. Companies often have to offer overtime because they can’t find applicants for regular 9-5 jobs. A rampant hustle culture may not be good for people psychologically but they’re not running sweatshops and they have nothing to do with slavery.
China has been actively suppressing its Muslim community including altering mosques to look more “Chinese”. I mean the government is literally doing the work of the bigots. It is obvious they feel their culture is inferior. Classic imperialism.
This should come in no surprise as China actively attacked it own culture during the cultural revolution where the ruling authoritarians determined the winners and losers at the incredible cost of diversity.
I don’t think you understand just how much death the US has caused. Just sanctions alone have killed 25 million people since the Cold War. The US is responsible for the greatest attacks on civilian populations and loss of life ever (firebombing of Tokyo and the atomic bombs).
The US has spread fascism around the entire world including China. A lot of people missed that the Tiananmen protests were against allowing capitalism into China. The people lost and the government has been marching into fascism ever since.
In spreading fascism the US has toppled more countries than any nation ever. Often replacing democratic or socialist governments with authoritarian dictatorships. They also helped kill countless “leftists” around the world to prevent the spread of communism. We are talking tens of millions of civilians dead.
It is not just with bombs that we kill countless people but also our technology. The US being responsible for an epidemic of lead poisoning, poisoning every single human with forever chemicals, poisoning every single human with micro plastics, causing global warming, etc. The US will have killed billions by the time this is all over.
From double tapping schools to unbelievable cruelty to its own populace with the War on Drugs, the sterilization of Puerto Rico, Tuskegee experiments, segregation, slavery, race based incarceration, and so much much more. I think you vastly underestimate the barbarism the US has and will continue to commit.
If I started reading off all the atrocities the US has committed throughout history I would literally be dead before I can finish them all. This is not an exaggeration.
Fascism is exactly what I would describe China as. They are practicing unfettered capitalism that is evidenced by creating more billionaires than the US last and this year. You don’t get there by being socialist or communists. The blatant authoritarianism, hyper nationalism, scapegoating minorities. I mean I will be honest. There is not one thing China does not check off for fascism.
Fascism is of course a scale, maybe China’s version is better than the US version at the moment? I would gather it is. China has also stepped into the world of manufacturing arms and is now arguably the world’s fifth largest producer supplying conflict regions with death. Do you think their military industrial complex is going to magically shrink?

I can only guess where you’re picking up this wild mix of fact and fiction but I think you need to check out some history books.
