The Saudi-led coalition said a projectile struck a terminal at Riyadh’s airport Sunday, a day after a missile attack killed 13 people and injured 309.

An unidentified projectile struck Saudi Arabia’s main international airport Sunday, injuring people a day after a deadly missile attack at the same site raised questions about whether the United States would join another conflict in the region.

Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation confirmed the death of a Pakistani resident and injuries to 11 others in the new attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. It said authorities were assessing damage and checking the safety of airport facilities.

The Saudi-led coalition said the projectile struck Terminal 4, causing a fire that authorities were working to control. It also reported intercepting and destroying a cruise missile near the airport.

The Houthis saw an opportunity when Iran was able to bloody the Saudi’s nose with relative impunity. Some reports are saying that there isn’t much left to US regional bases and I’m betting that the US pulled assets from Yemen to help them do whatever it is they think they’re doing with Iran.

The US looks like it is basically leaving the region and things are changing.

That’s probably part of why they’re so confident, but it’s not why the Houthis attacked. It was Saudi Arabia that started the latest round of conflict by attacking Sanaa International Airport last July, and Houthi retaliation against that (and therefore renewed conflict) was functionally guaranteed. Saudi Arabia being dumb enough to do this would’ve drawn a military response from the Houthis with or without the Iran war, though it’s possible the response would’ve been smaller in scale without Iran drawing America’s attention.

I’m not sure what you’re getting at. Saudi Arabia was helping their favorite side of the Yemeni civil war they had boots on the ground there.
