I’m looking forward to removing his cameo from GoT. It won’t fix the series but it’ll make the last seasons slightly better.

Nah GoT deserves him. GRRM deserves this after selling out and abandoning the readers who supported his series for years. I don’t ever see myself watching the show again. Maybe the first 3 seasons.

lol ya The love hate I have for GoT is strong. In 4 days I watched season 1 twice. Once by myself and once with my gf. The early seasons retain much more of the 1st person perspective that made GRRMs world building a unique reading experience.

If you want a good fantasy series to read Malazan Book of the Fallen is way better anyway and finished.

And it gets better on a second read because you notice how many things that pay off in the Crippled God are set up way back in Gardens of the Moon

I started reading the first book, got like a third of the way in, then life got in the way. Thanks for reminding me! Gonna start over now

As a big Malazan fan, just know you’re not alone if you sometimes find yourself feeling puzzled on your first read. I had to read several chapters of the first book twice to really get it. Subsequent books went much more smoothly.

I wouldn’t call it selling out. He didn’t abandon the books because of the series. He didn’t know how the books will end. Luckily for him he doesn’t have to end them as the HBO series set him up for life.

He didn’t know how the books will end.

That’s impossible because he both provided the show writers with ending plot points in 2013 and has said multiple times that the books would end differently than the show.

Luckily for him he doesn’t have to end them as the HBO series set him up for life.

You and I have very different operating definitions of “selling out”.

You don’t see an issue with your logic here? He gave the show some pointers on how to end it…knowing that’s what he didn’t want to end it with and knowing the books would end differently. That doesn’t mean he knows how the books are going to end. That means he has chosen one way the books are not going to end and the ways they can end are literally every other possible option.

He’s not going to finish the book series. Him taking a payday and leaving his fans who supported his writing career hanging is selling out.

Anyone who read the books would know why I’m upset. You clearly did not.

I was responding to the first part you said about being impossible that he doesn’t know how the books will end. Your response was not actually a response to me at all. You can be upset all you want, that’s irrelevant.

So, you inserted yourself into a conversation you were not a part of, on a subject you don’t know anything about about … to be an asshole?

I’ll be removing you from my lemmy experience now. Clearly you’ve run out of positive contributions
