We demonized and shuttered nuclear power plants in the US and strengthened fossil fuel. We wont see anything like a fossil fuel phase out anytime in the near future.
Why wouldn’t you put them on the grid? The point of a grid is to have more robust and reliable energy distribution.
How about they need to spend some of their trillions on solar and wind (and batteries) that are connected to the grid so they’re adding electricity generation to the grid that’s equal to the their energy consumption?
That way when the bubble inevitably bursts, we can shut down the dirtier forms of electricity generation since there will be an excess of clean energy.
Data Centers should produce their own energy through solar or wind. I believe they should be off-the-grid energy wise.
A lot of them are “off the grid” in a sense, but they usually set up their own fossil fuel plants instead of renewables.
Honestly we just need legislation to start phasing out fossil fuels.

Standard cooling is a real issue with the climate heating, exponentially. I’m not sure, but even molten salt is probably not an answer.

Alberta, Canada just passed a law that data centers MUST use fossil fuels.

No, they just shouldn’t exist. And they shouldn’t use materials for renewable energy which could be used to provide power to actual useful things.
