That reminds me of when I was in kindergarten. Obviously cats aren’t going to start repeating things you yell at them, but kids do.

The first day of kindergarten when we went around the room introducing ourselves, it was like this:

        "Hi, I’m Amanda.

        Hi, I’m Mike.

        Hi I’m Julie.

        Hi, I’m Shawna

        Hi, I’m MotherFucker."

And everybody just stopped and looked at him. Like a record scratch moment stops. The teacher just started scolding him. He seemed perplexed. He genuinely didn’t know what the issue was. Turns out, his dad never called him by name, and he was a very very sheltered kid. His dad would just yell things like “GET YER ASS DOWN HERE MOTHERFUCKER!”

His understanding was that his name was MotherFucker. Because that’s what his dad called him, and he only ever really interacted with his dad. It was such a weird experience to deal with him. Because this is just one story of how his home life affected his outlook without him realizing that what he’s saying is very very fucked up shit. I’ve never since seen an entire room be angry with pity all at the same person. He pissed off so many people, but we all had to remind ourselves it’s not his fault. He’s not being an asshole. He just exists in an assholes world.
