I had to click the link to figure out why. It was a fire.

A fire at a shoe factory in the south-eastern Chinese city of Jinjiang has killed at least 28 people, according to the state news agency.

Most non-Americans would assume that. As opposed to a disgruntled employee with an AK.

I think plenty of us older Americans would assume that too. Hence why I mentioned the Triangle Shirtwaist. It likely has a lot of relevance unfortunately. But yeah no clue if the younger Generations are still aware of such things.

A new Triangle Shirtwaist dropped? I shudder to think. But knowing China, it doesn’t give me confidence that it isn’t something similar. Or that the death toll numbers aren’t going to rise precipitously.

Bet on the local government to cover their asses. Up to central CCP whether to take action or let this slip.

Considering their record on workers rights is basically as bad as the West was when it was industrializing. I have very low confidence in anything happening. Unless someone in the party lost family or money on it.

This is after all the same government that allows companies to drive workers so hard they were literally throwing themselves from the building to escape. Eventually installing nets to stop them from going Splat. But to the best of my knowledge never correcting the conditions that made the workers want to do it.
