I grew up with a PC so it always seemed normal to me, I guess I was lucky that way. I’m honestly surprised that Sony didn’t announce this at the launch of the ps5.
Console always seemed nerfed to me.
To be honest, I think they were potentially planning or wanting to only go with the digital-only ps5, but after seeing backlash to the idea they went with both the diskless and disk-drive ps5’s to “test the waters” as it were. There’s been a few digital only consoles like the psp go, and the diskless xbox one s, but those as far as I remembered underperformed in terms of sales numbers. If the digital-only ps5 sold well enough or if they observed a general trend of people buying digital on the ps5 it could’ve been the deciding factor that has made them more confident in going forward with it
