The Obama deal was supposed to have “given” Iran ~$2B, but that was actually a settlement of claims made by Iran pursuant to pre-revolutionary contracts, disputes, and treaties.
So I’m suspicious of this $300B figure. How much of that is sanctions relief and/or unfreezing Iranian assets?
It’s probably misleading to characterize that figure as though we’re writing them a check for war reparations. But there aren’t enough details to be sure.
Anyway, I don’t think it’s wise to adopt the language and tactics of people who think diplomacy is a waste of time and would prefer a military solution.
