This is an enormous “No Duh” to anyone who has been paying attention. Cooperation between Mexican Authorities and US NORTHCOM has been public knowledge for months now as is what they are doing and how they are doing it.
I assume mostly to keep the US from deciding to do the strike themselves.
Seriously you think the violent Reprisals are bad now. Just Imagine if word was US Special Forces did the killing blow
I agree, I imagine this was a “if you don’t do this with our intelligence as help, we will just do it”.
Just Imagine if word was US Special Forces did the killing blow
Then what? The cartels declare war on the US military?
Then it’s bad for the country itself, once that can of worms is opened it won’t likely be closed either, the project 2025 people will be predator drone striking people every month or more, like they do in a lot of other countries. It will make their government look like a bitch for one thing.
This cartel thing has gone on long enough, their government needs to crush them to forestall these American dickheads, and it’s not like the cartels don’t deserve it, they’ve ran amok since the US made Mexico fracture the sinaloa cartel in the first place with Calderon whenever that was, 2007 or something I forget.
A president a lot of people say the CIA helped steal the mexican election for I would add.
No, rather the narrative becomes foreign intervention is muddling with internal politics, not the Mexican Government (“my” government in this case) killed a drug lord with the help of the US government.
I am not defending this action necessarily, I am just pointing out how politically those two things are VERY different.
Actually yes. And not saying the Cartels would wipe the floor of the US military. But the terror would go cross boarder. Worst of all Trump would have his excuse to send boots on the ground and do further military strikes in Mexico
But the terror would go cross boarder.
Where the cartels would face Law Enforcement AND a population capable who are both capable of eliminating them. I’m not arguing for it to happen nor saying it wouldn’t be awful for Cartel terror to start happening in the United States however in the U.S. both our Law Enforcement and our population are capable of extreme violence.
I seriously can’t imagine the things I’ve seen playing out in Mexico over the last 48 hours happening here, at least not outside some of our very large cities and even then only for very short amounts of time.
As an example a cartel group trying to block roadways with burning vehicles is likely to get shot to literal pieces once people figure out what is going on.
A cartel pushing an overwhelming attack on Law Enforcement would result in a public call for help and hundreds to thousands of people with essentially unlimited arms and ammo would be there in minutes.
Shootout / killing in the streets? Sure those might work for a few hours, maybe a day, but after that 1/2 half of the country would be walking around visibly armed and ready to throw down.
My point here is that fights inside the United States would not end like they do inside of Mexico and that’s WITHOUT the US Military being involved. The United States is a violent country, always has been, and groups REALLY fuck themselves when they do something to get all that violence redirected at them.
I know the US Civilian population has a reputation of being armed to the teeth and willing to defend home and family at the drop of a hat but truth be told I think that is just propaganda boasting.
Like I said I have no doubt the Military would win out by a wide margin. It’s just the Cartels would bring about real terror with a message loud and clear “this happened because your government thought it be smart to attack us.”
Why does Mexico need intelligence from the US. For one thing, they are spying on their citizens, Mexico should be at least outwardly mad about that, feigned shock, I rebuke you sir! But for another, why didn’t mexico know enough to take him down?
Mexico needs to get it’s shit together, because if they let the cartels run wild like this, the project 2025 people will start reaching across the border killing people, and they are running the show the president doesn’t know what is going on they have him shitposting ai slop picking fights with better men at the moment, then a nap.
Mexico is such a new country, they don’t have the long history the US does, I mean take Mexico City they haven’t even changed the default name of their capital city yet! That city must be tiny AND brand new.
Comparatively the capital of USA, The Los Angeles, has existed since before movies or even computers and has survived countless Democratic Administrations. They name SUBMARINES after our capital!
Mexico should thank US.
I presume this is some kind of joke, I just refreshed my memory, the latin americas reached for independence during and after the Napoleonic wars weakened spain, and weakened France who lose over a quarter million troops there in guerilla actions, and faced their first real losses where their aura of invincibility was broken.
But around 1810 or so, Mexico declared independence, and spain was too weakened to fight them for it, as south america followed suit, under their founding father Simon Bolivar, who dreamed of a union of south american countries, sort of like a loose United states, {which is how the US was supposed to be to this strong federal government is what they were trying to avoid but I digress,) where they had a common military, and I’m not sure how much of an economic bloc he evangelized on, but as for now, an EU style union amongst latin america is a must for them to prosper, and come out from under the boot of American twatfaced leaders screwing them for their billionaire pals.
Africa needs an economic bloc too but that’s a much harder sell.
But south america, and it would have to include venezuela, they are the most important given their oil, with a common currency, more freedom of movement and rules about investment to give more surety to start businesses. And a federal function that negotiates with foreign powers as a group, and runs a cooperative military, would make all the difference.
They’ve had some interest in this recently too, the US works to scupper it under the table. But either they come up with something better, or the US will topple them for RW dictators to make a rather paltry amount of money for a few rich people in dictatorships and squander the potential of their countries. Look at venezuela, the US made a deal with their military to become their de facto leader, and oversee them selling out their oil and such to the US’ connected parties. The civilian leadership are puppets now, it’s the cold war template they dusted off, and expect a lot more of that.
The militaries of countries cannot be trusted, especially if they were brought into domestic affairs, as almost all have been, and as the US is trying to do itself. Dooming them all to military rule, barring some kind of union.
It was, I am a shark that must continually develop sarcastic remarks to breathe and I am all out of /s’s
And this will only cause more violence and chaos, not less.
We have the War on Drugs and all the morons who support it to thank for this death and destruction.
Yes, as long as people continue to feel the need to escape brutal or unfulfilling lives. They will find a way to get the means to do so. God forbid we intrude on the lives of the trump pedo class and tell them to give back what they’ve stolen. And make everyone’s lives better.
The administration is the end destination for whole shipments of this cocaine too. These guys do a shitload of coke. To say nothing of their rich donor buddies, and executives and board members have long been notorious for doing lots of coke, often at board meetings.
She seems capable of reading the room but always seems to fumble herself over when the time comes.
Five bucks says if Mexico didn’t do the Strike themselves US would have done it themselves.
Better to have done that I say. Now they did it for an ungrateful man child’s tempertantrum. He won’t remember or care, still attacking her if only for being a woman. And the cartels will now be targeting the Mexican government harder. It was a lose lose situation and she did.
Or that man child gets rock hard and pushes for further strikes maybe even boots on the ground as the Cartels attack innocent Mexicans AND any White person
There is no or with fascists. Only and. And now she’s complicit.
The only thing she is complicit in is having the Mexican State kill a Cartel Boss
At the behest of a fascist that won’t remember or care. Only earning her a personal target on her back, from a group effectively supported by the actions of the people that complained to her in the first place.
What? But people on the internet kept saying Mexico didn’t want the US to help with the cartels.
You’re not telling me… the group was wrong??? 😱
According to Sheinbaum in this morning’s address, the operation was planned and executed by Mexican federal authorities, and pinpointed el Mencho’s location through their own strategic analysis of the information they had. The only involvement of the USA in this operation was the two-way exchange of information and intelligence surrounding the target.
The news I read said the intelligence was derived from a mistress of his. Idk it sounds like they got him visiting one of his mistresses, and maybe she didn’t have good operational security and loose lips or whatever. Not her fault he should’ve thought about that.
As the article says, Mexico said it didn’t want American troops in the country. There is no indication that that happened. The US contribution here, as far as we know just now, is information
Even then, though, Mexico may well decide that even if it doesn’t want US troops, bringing them in to cooperate might be preferable to fighting the US over it when the US is being so belligerent
Okay, so Mexico only wants some 🤏 help from the US.
With the way things are looking, they might not have a choice if they actually want to stop the cartels.
