Your body give you an hour long relaxing shower, or the opportunity for continental breakfast at home before leaving. Generous body!

I can sense when it’s time to wake up, while asleep.
It’s likely just confirmation bias, but I almost always wake up minutes before my alarm if I have a stressful or unusual appointment, like an early flight or interview.
I assume most people has this with their routine wake-up time, that the body learns when to wake up right on time… but this is like: if I usually wake up at 8:30 but now have to wake up 5:45 or 6:15 or whatever, I’ll wake up on my own right before the alarm goes off. I just need to think about it somewhat thoroughly (wake-up time and approx. how many hour of sleep until then) before falling asleep.

Same with dairy. I never enjoyed a glass of plain milk, and after switching to dairy free options for milk I also found that vegan cream, ice cream, butter etc doesn’t have that “off” subtaste. The difference with non-dairy really highlighted how badly dairy makes me want to rinse my mouth.

Cool! My sink was small enough that I’d fill it thrice while washing under the tap haha. Now I have a washing machine and won’t be going back.

Yeah true!

Thanks, I was wondering what to waste my weekend on this time around!

Wouldn’t the first batch of lukewarm water just be used for the prewash/rinse cycle? So it doesn’t matter if it’s fully hot yet or not.

That’s like the second most wasteful way of washing dishes, with the most wasteful being the same thing but not turning the tap off while scrubbing.
Well, presuming you have enough wares for a full wash. Filling the sink for just one plate would be unnecessary…
You can plug the sink and wash with your current tap method and see how many dishes it takes to fill the sink with water - that’s how many you need to collect to save water with the sink method.

Bicycle for sure. I’m going to get one fitted for winter and hopefully be able to use either depending on weather all year round going forward.
Dishwasher. It might not have paid for itself in money but in peace of mind - how I hate doing dishes. It ruins my day and stresses me out, so not having to deal with it has been truly valuable.
Hiking boots. They’re meant for summer hiking but I use them all season, but with studs in winter. Have saved my ankles and feet from twisting, blisters, heat and cold.

Huh. I always assumed that based on the time period and how involved the characters were in all the cultural chaos of their times, plus her involvement with drugs and the free love-movement… it probably wasn’t actually spelled out in the film though, so that’s on me.

I’ve heard of the insanity that is the book, but somehow missed the years-long chess games. I’m even more afraid to read it now haha.
I believe this is one clear case where visual media has the upper hand over the story, as when we can see it happen it becomes somehow less unlikely than merely reading about it, because the “proof” is visible right there (though this might be because I don’t have a mind visual when reading, it’s fully an emotional and mental experience).
Also the lack of communicating with space apes…

Forrest Gump.
So there’s this middle aged man waiting on a bus and telling his life story to whichever strangers happens to walk by, and he like fought in Vietnam and got a medal from nixon and showed his ass on national television and became a pingis champion and started a successful fishing company and became a millionaire and gave Nike their slogan and ran across the continent and… Oh, and he’s mentally disabled and about to meet his son for the first time because the sons mom is dying of aids.
Absolutely bonkers premise, and such a fantastic movie still today.

Longer, but also with more parentheses.

Ooh, I like this. I’m in!

Hmm. Probably no one.
Small amounts are weird to need “no questions asked” and large amounts are too large to give away “no questions asked”. Partly for me financially, but mostly because there is a not insignificant risk of overdose if you give out large sums of money to someone being cagey about why they need it.
If they can’t tell me what a significant amount of money is for, it’s probably because it’s something I don’t want my money to go to, so I’m not inclined to agree under those premises.
At the least I would need a very good reason for why I can’t ask questions (“I’m preparing to vacation as a fugitive, and don’t want you to have to testify”), but by then there is no longer no questions asked…

Everyone I would give my money to would give that reason unprompted so I wouldn’t have to ask.
Except kids, they might ask just to see if it works, and then I would ask to know what for.
I don’t think I’ve ever been asked to give away something without being offered a reason, actually…

We can’t fix other peoples issues for them.
We can choose to support them if they are actively trying to fix their own issues.
We can also decide that even though they are trying the impact is too big on us and distance ourselves.
But if they aren’t actually trying to better themselves there is nothing we can do except protect ourselves.
Your sister needs to look into co-dependence and trauma-bonding (if not in this case then for future reference), and focus on becoming emotionally independent rather than confusing nurturing with doormat. She can only fix her own issues, not her friends. And learn that not every friend is worth the title.

Are you sure you’re underperforming, or is that just an idea you came up with yourself? Have you talked to a boss or manager about their expectations for your role and if you are meeting those expectations?
It may just be a self-sabotaging thought, and getting confirmation that you are meeting expectations could let you relax and work at a preferred or natural pace without stressing about your performance.
I don’t know if a tattoo is material… I guess the ink is, so I’ll go with that.
Before coming of age I had plenty of ideas that I would be slightly embarrassed of today (and being slightly embarrassed is, as we know, the worst possible outcome with tattoos from a past you’ve outgrown).
I’ve changed my mind enough over time that I now know I could never decide on a permanent design. But right now I’m really into face spiders. Hopefully that notion fades by the time I feel secure enough in my career to do face spiders…
