America has a history of arming its future enemies. Deeming the cartels to be terrorist organizations will make special ops and drone warfare permissible. The Mexican president knows this move invites more violence on her country, not less.

There’s not a ton of global census data out there, but in Canada trans and non-binary people make up 0.33% of the population. Which means there’s a lot of people who don’t know anyone who is trans or non-binary. Unfortunately there’s also a lot of people who are unwilling to emphasize, or even sympathize, for those they feel are different or strange to them. It take time and effort to listen to others’ stories and to gain appreciation for their perspective, and it’s an effort many people are uncomfortable making if it feels they are deviating too far from society’s norm. What you’re observing is those in power taking advantage of the same human weakness that’s been used forever to discriminate on whoever the current permissible outgroup to hate is.

How many times have you heard, “I don’t care about anyone being/doing Y, but…”, and then proceed to say some sort of transphobic, homophobic, racist, or sexist shit? When I grew up it was the G in LGBT. When my parents grew up it was African Americans. Women only got the right to vote a century ago, you better believe some of our great granduncles had some shit to say that would make today’s uncles look like saints.

He’s literally bought the social media platform that Trump used to control the (inter)national discourse for four years and modified its algorithm to suit his interests. He’s copied Trump’s tactics of maintaining media coverage by pushing out enough insane shit to capture the daily news cycle attention. His notoriety comes from his wealth and not an elected office, so we will never stop hearing about him for as long as he owns twitter and the media has the attention span of a gnat.

Perhaps not directly, but if America steps up it’s involvement, they will be relying on their relationships with allies in the region to do so.

I think the lens of a localized, regional war in the Middle East is becoming too narrow. If we’re escalating things to the point of America’s direct and significant involvement (beyond shooting missiles out of the sky, but rather conducting its own attacks on Iran), then I think Iran’s potential allies extend beyond the region as well.

Most likely Russia first, as it’s already in a proxy war with the US/West.

Potentially China, but not likely until it’s most advantageous for them to do so. Or perhaps they’ll enter opportunistically, such as attacking Taiwan if America’s Naval might is sent to the Gulf, opening a potential three front war.

The economic connection between these three has continued to grow in recent years, and may be reason enough.

North Korea invaded South Korea in 1950, after the South refused Northern rule. The UN stepped in (90% American forces) pushing the North Koreans nearly to China’s borders, at which point China entered the war, and resulting in the 38th parallel armistice border we have today.

North Korea wasn’t pushed into China’s welcoming arms due to American anti-nuclear proliferation sanctions of the last twenty years, and “being bombed into oblivion” is often the result of picking on countries with bigger allies than you, just ask Germany and Japan.

China has propped up the Kim dictatorship dynasty for the last 70 years, feeding their starving masses while the Kims focus the country’s resources on military spending, including nuclear development to substantiate their annual saber rattling. Allowing China to maintain a buffer state, that’s kept the West at bay since 1951.
