Glass is also quite heavy, increasing logistics costs for transport - but in an ideal world where everything runs off renewable energy sources and stupid people didn’t ruin things for the rest of us - glass would indeed be the ideal medium.

I am aware; but when the options are an entirely plastic container (clear, and readily able to oxidise and leech microplastics when exposed to light over long periods of time) versus a lined metal can (which is at least opaque) - cans are remain the lesser of two evils.

I agree with the overall sentiment; but there is no way in hell that canned water is worse than plastic bottles.

Aluminium is infinitely more/easily recyclable than plastic, and has a much lower negative impact on the environment.

But to reiterate, filling up your own bottle from the tap is preferred - but if you have to buy water in a container: can > bottle

I assume it would be using renewable, non-carbon producing forms of energy to power this; ie. geothermal, solar, wind, heck - even nuclear would be a good power source for this sort of machinery (with a consistent power requirement).

The more pertinent question IMO is, how many of these machines would be need to first bring global net-Carbon emissions to 0 - and the. How many more would we need to reverse the last century+ of CO2 pollution and bring air quality back to pre-industrial revolution levels?

When the PS6 eventually launches some time around ~2030, it would still be ‘next gen’ for a while until it reaches mass-market adoption. At that (largely arbitrary) point, the PS6 would become ‘current gen’, the PS5 would become ‘last gen’ and the PS4 would go on to be considered ‘retro’.

Just for reference - by that point in time, the PS4 would likewise also be ~18 years old.

When ‘next-gen’ becomes ‘current gen’ (as we see the PS5 now), then the previous ‘last gen’ (ie. PS3) becomes retro.

Glass is still the best medium, but it is relatively heavy and fragile - making per-unit costs significantly higher once all factors are accounted for (loss, logistics etc).

While it’s true that a few milligrams of plastic are burned off when cans are recycled - it is still infinitely better for the environment overall than single-use bottles.

The issue is more the blatant profiteering off people looking to do the right thing.

There is absolutely no reason for a small bottle of syrup to cost more per serve than buying multiple giant plastic bottles made up of 95% carbonated water.

Matter of fact, it’s counter-intuitive as you usually are charged more for a convenience (ie. a ready to go beverage), versus buying the ingredients separately.

What’s worse is that prior to being a PM, he was chairman of the board at OzEmail prior to them being bought out by iiNet. You would have hoped by working for a technology company he’d have some semblance of a clue about encryption. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Downloads folder is a free-for-all; things get properly sorted when they’re moved onto the NAS - there is a seperate network drive for Multimedia (videos), Applications, Photos, etc. Each of those are then usually nested by Alphabetical folder.
