  • When did academic journals just start publishing nonsense? When did conspiracy theories like a shadow cabal of evil people that record the rich and powerful abusing children become obvious reality? When did literally hundreds of government officials state UFOs are real, they’re not human, and there’s a good chance they’re not natural phenomena?

Science only has trust if you can trust those with the means to verify the work, do actually verify the work. The reproducibility crisis in all scientific fields was at a peak before LLMs were on every single phone; now there no such thing as trustworthy peer reviewed research that can be reproduced, even if the money was there to test everything that was published.

Tl;Dr the entire scientific world lost credibility and a whole lot of conspiracies were proven real as more CIA docs got declassified. Anything might be true at this point.

  • Most conspiracy theories have at least some truth, with the rest being assumptions based on things proven true. Is Jeffery Epstein an agent of a shadowy super organization that spent decades collecting evidence of rich and powerful men abusing children to keep them under control?

Maybe. Parts of that are undeniably true, and the rest of that also happened separately(see finders cult). You’d be a conspiracy theorist to combine the two though, especially if you were to present this information in 2003, despite both things still being true then.

As far as your actual point; whistle blower have “committed suicide” by shooting themselves twice in the back of the head, dislocating their joints, and shoving themselves post mortem into a duffle bag in a ny apartment. (See CIA whistle blowers, NYPD whistleblowers.) Its not crazy to assume someone that took on someone powerful was killed and was made to look suicidal, that’s literally something that has happened thousands of times in the last 5 decades. As to why, it’s easier. It stops official investigations. Its over with and must people will assume it is true and anyone that questions it will be a crazy conspiracy theorist.

  • That would be wonderful if it were true, getting aipac out of the dem party would be one of the best things to have ever happened in US politics, that’s simply not the case.

Netanyahu’s favourite in France, Marine Le pen, is now permanently barred from government. The far right in France, in general, is failing. This is simply fascist consolidation of liberals. The same thing always happens as fascism approaches being accepted widely. Liberals are exclusively the ones with the will and power to hand over the keys of power to fascists.

  • All three are 90% trash, 8% good for wasting braincells and 2% among the best in the format of graphic novel.

That being said the manhua style of vertical scrolling to read is better than any other format for vertical screen devices. After getting used to it (and getting a reader than can cache fast enough to keep up) reading manga and ebooks just feels incredibly clunky and unintuitive.

That being said the monetary schemes for manhua/hwa are sometimes ridiculously predatory. If you want to read ethically you better have some serious money, especially for longer series with shorter chapters.

  • The gap has been getting smaller every year, and thanks to stagnation from amd and Intel, it’s nonexistent in the consumer and business market. Chinas consumer grade CPUs are on the same performance as five year old chips, roughly speaking. Most people don’t upgrade their CPUs that often and genuinely don’t need to these days.

The biggest difference is in cuda-like and similar chips, but thanks to ridiculous levels of foreign investment that gap is also narrowing.

The Linux kernel already supports them by the way.

China has been planning for a us led export ban on all computer components for three decades now, since Clinton originally started talking about it. There’s a reason Taiwan is still allowed to be an autonomous region, and it’s not because China thinks it would damage the chip fabs during an invasion.

  • X11 absolutely didn’t just work, hence Wayland’s entire existence and rapid adoption once it was mature enough to function. Xorg’s decades old cobbled together code base of awkward fixes for obscure issues and random contributions that had to be repeatedly fixed in every other patch is infamous as an example of how not to do FOSS software over time, and serves as a fatal warning to all open source projects.

Wayland has issues, and those issues are being fixed. Slow updating distros, as always, suffer the most with new software and paradigms. But whining about it hardly helps. This is foss land, contribute or report, never complain.

  • For rare it’s fine to be red in the middle. Given how much it’s cooked on the outside it’s likely either this person fucked up, or the color balance was messed with, as it shouldn’t be quite that red when you already have grey forming way past the crust like that.

Pink is what you get at medium temps. If it’s pink in the center, you’ve hit medium, if it’s still a bit red in the center, you’re at medium rare and did a good job for most steak eaters; assuming you limited the amount of grey formed during the sear.

If this is unedited, they went for rare but didn’t cook it enough and tried to fix it by searing it too long, so its slightly over cooked on the outside and slightly under cooked in the center compared to a perfect example of rare.
