I realised that I really don’t need all those bells and whistles, so I’m sticking with Sway for now; it gets the job done, and without taking up too much memory.

As a form of protest to the so called Fediverse Anarchist Flotilla, consisting of a few instances who are maintained by tankies, and not by anarchists as you would expect. I guess they’re the same category as those you call fake communists.

Which instances are part of this flotilla? Which are opposed to it? Why is all of this so complicated? (That last one isn’t a question, but rather an expression of mild frustration).

I agree with what you said about the conservative US citizens. They are deliberatly shaped by current and former governments, since basically Reagan was dismantling the confederation.

Okay then. Hyprland is not performant, and it’s over-complicated. Simpler WMs are my preference, and so, I shall use Sway.

Eh, it’s probably not a realistically managable project. I might actually have more luck forking the NetBSD kernel to use compat_linux by default, which would achieve decent compatibility with the Linux ABI.

That’s so cool! Yeah, it’s pretty neat seeing or using a really simple system like that. Smaller or older computers tend to be a lot easier to understand, too, in my opinion.

More seriously, I think most of the non-fork distros don’t tolerate that crap. Think Arch, Debian, Void, etc.

Something I’m keeping an eye on is this project. No clue what, if anything, will come of it.

Personally, I use Artix, and I’m considering NetBSD. I’m also consodering making my own Unix-like distro, possibly using the NetBSD kernel.

I agree wholeheartedly. I only recommended it because it’s the only gaming-centric disto that I’ve used, and I wasn’t sure what OP’s technical skills were like.

I went to pure Arch because I’m a computer masochist I prefer it’s minimality. Now, I’ve migrated to Artix, and I’m considering NetBSD.

I am speedrunning Unix-like OSes.

Not sure if you’ve chosen a distro, but I can vouch for CachyOS being pretty decent. There are more stable (i.e. non-rolling) gaming distros, but CachyOS doesn’t take a huge amount of tinkering, and most things truly just work (I’ve actually had some games be less buggy on Proton than native Windows).
