I think the vast majority of Democrats in House and Senate will bend the knee or just stay silent before facing persecution.

And everybody voting the furthest left viable is a flimsy strategy for fighting fascism. Many people already do that all the time, but you can’t make sure that everybody does. Also, with this there never was a chance to move the party any further left. Every election there was this myth that you have to vote moderate to change the party, but it never happened. Why should it? Moderates can say that the voters have shown they want moderate positions when they win. And when they lose for some reason they go, “Well, if you need them the most the progressives will stab you in the back. Let’s cut them out”. This is what I mean there are no consequences for Democrats, at least for the leadership that’s moderate and neoliberal. They will never move.

I’m seeing a lot of voter bashing but the same Democrats in power. I get the criticism against voters. They should have voted neoliberal. But the Democrats set this vote up to fail. They just don’t seem to get any consequences for it.

No, they aren’t. Expecting the Dems to get the vote by not being the fascists is a low standard. They have to present more than that. They didn’t, in fact, and now the party blames leftists for not voting hard enough when it’s their failure.

Jesus, when Luigi Mangione allegedly killed that healthcare CEO, it showed how the entire country liked seeing that, and the Democratic party has no idea what kind of campaign they could maybe run? I’m not saying they should run on a billionaire purge platform, but c’mon, maybe use your one billion dollar campaign funds for sending a message for you and not against the other one. Instead we got a 25k grant for a house purchase if you jump through three hoops. Wow, inspiring stuff.

And Hillary Clinton being characterized as making “no big changes” tells the whole story here. Her opponent went on a “drain the swamp”, “we’re going to make America great again” campaign and building up a hispanic and muslim scape goat. Everyone who is educated knew these were lies, but people were bad off, even then, and needed change. To be a hawkish candidate in a war exhausted society who runs on nothing but trying to achieve the first female presidential office is a weak attempt at saving America from Trump.

The amount of hatred against phantom leftists that on the one hand lost the Dems the vote and on the other were too weak to have their demands considered is crazy.

No, these people didn’t lose you the vote. They don’t even exist in this ambivalent form. It was everyday citizens that heard Democrats push the same racist border talking points Trump spewed last election and went “Hm, if even the Dems say this is a problem, I’ll vote the party that talked about how evil Migrants were for decades, the GOP”. It’s people tired of increasingly struggling to make ends meet and the Dems saying everything will stay the same, while Trump promised them change. We know that he just means destroying the last remnants of social security nets for poor people and everything that stands in the way for oligarchs making kaijulllian dollars. But people are stupid and desperate. Why can’t the Democratic party be held to a higher standard than whatever this is?

You can’t make the survival of democracy hinge on everybody having to vote for you because else it would be getting even worse. You actually have to present an option that promises that things get better. Significantly even, since most people in the US are absolutely struggling.

I think most people don’t realize how many nations who think about waging war against another nation value experiences taught in Ukraine. The usage of FPV drones has been shown as highly effective. Hell, even in Gaza there seems to be heavy drone usage on the side of Israel.

People should be worried about NK soldiers in Ukraine. That signals that they are interested to train their soldiers for modern warfare. In general the war in Ukraine has opened Pandora’s Box, now there is a willingness to use AI controlled drones in Radio jammed combat zones. Only a few years ago people shuddered about the thought of it. Now it isn’t even a big discussion.

All this to say Putin sucks. This invasion could be the start of a dark chapter in history and it’s just because he thinks Russian influence can only be maintained by military force.

Because it’s valuable to send troops to a modern conflict zone, so in the end you have veterans who can train the next batch of soldiers in drone warfare. I think South Korea is worried about this

My guess is that they are saying this because in September 2023 they made a deal with Israel to buy their missile defense system. Instead of buying a European version with the French mind you, but that’s a whole other stupid fucking can of worms.

Well, October 2023 passed by and then it got a bit trickier over time to support Israel. But besides demands to maintain humanitarian care for Gazans, my government has done nothing of substance to stop supporting Israel. It is beyond shameful, this decision will haunt us in the future when Israel inevitably loses its position and we have to answer why we are so stupid to buy from Israeli right wing extremists (and the US) to begin with instead of starting EU projects if we have to. Not to mention the biggest thing, supporting open genocide.

We always talk big about EU stronk, but I can’t help to sympathize with the French (and other EU govs) when they are pissed at my country. We have taken the call every time the US wants something instead of considering European interests plus have run austerity for 20 years now in every government in the time period. We have a real knack for getting ourselves into a dependency of big powers, even Russia with their gas. We lack any vision how to fix our problems and build a strong European union while being the biggest member. Meanwhile the right builds it’s own vision, fortress europe. Thanks Merkel, thanks Scholz, you’re really good at managing.

All this to say my government sucks because they won’t arrest Bibi. Fuck that guy and frankly fuck Israel for committing a genocide. Thank you for listening to my Ted talk.

Netanyahu really doesn’t want these negotiations to come through, does he? How can he go to the hostage families and tell them he’s gonna get their relatives back when he bombs the shit out of the country they’re hidden in, has blown up and wanted to funnel sea water into the tunnels where they are most likely held (from an outsiders perspective) and now basically shot someone in the face across the negotiating table?

Tell me how that makes sense.

Absolute insanity. When I’m seeing these things around the world and now in Ukraine I’m always trying to see a logical explanation, some twisted cynical reasoning for why you bomb these vulnerable civilian targets, and I can’t find anything. It’s just cruelty. Ukrainians aren’t going to surrender because of this, people and nations never have before. It just makes resistance to your war that much more defiant. If you bomb a childrens hospital, it’s just because you want to punish people for not letting you win.

The second part that hurts is that this changes so little in the grand scheme. Maybe some guy who was living under a rock who was skeptical changes his mind about this invasion. But the vast majority of Russian internet propagandists, pro-Russia politicians in parliaments in the EU and around the world and people blinded by Putins lies will find some pathetic excuse to deny and deflect. And in a week the next atrocity occurs somewhere
