Word, good example. That one traumatized me, I was four years old when I saw it go down, and had a terrible fear of countdown timers (e.g., microwave oven timer) for quite a while after that.
Not just Operation Overlord (which I’m betting this jamoke doesn’t even know), but all kinds of military operations were postponed due to weather and other reasons. It’s how strategy works. I assume the extent of guy’s military expertise stops at shouting racist slurs while playing COD, and I even say this as a not-actually-an-expert type of person.
There’s a YouTube channel covering WWII week by week, and there’s a sister series called War Against Humanity, which covers the atrocities committed on all sides—not just the a death camps and the murders in the ghettos, but firebombing campaigns, the Japanese internment camps, the Bata’an death march, the famine in India at the hands of the Raj, and so on. Every episode ends with host Spartacus Olsson repeating the phase that we should be using, “Never forget”. Because a huge contingent of us seems to be forgetting.
Isn’t much of the power of the Maiar in diplomacy and setting events in motion? Gandalf was as much of an interloper and manipulator as he was anything else, and his hiring Bilbo as a thief was the penultimate piece of his mission, as inadvertent as I’m not entirely sure it was. Right? No, really, I’m kinda asking, I don’t know for sure.
