It’s not only about the pollution: Cruise ships are also bad for cities as cities. A cruise ship will vomit 5000 people into your city center. Most european city centers are quite small, so 2-3 cruise ships will totally overcrowd the city. People might buy some tourist shit, but they will get their breakfast & dinner on the cruise ship. That’s bad for local restaurants. They will not stay overnight, which is bad for local businesses, hotels etc. And they will push out other tourist, because who wants to stay in Dubrovnik when the experience is like this?

It really does make sense for cities to ban cruise ships and advocate other types of tourism, where the tourists are “doing” more for the local economy.

This can start a death spiral - the more cities & ports are banning cruise ships in the Mediterranean, the more traffic the other cities will get. That will increase the problems there, leading to demands to also ban cruise ships there and so on.

In einer besseren Welt würde Microsoft für solche unternehmerischen Entscheidungen erstmal eine dicke Rechnung für die Elektroschrottentsorgung bekommen

A few things:

1. It gives manufacturers a blueprint for their devices. You will see a lot of handhelds running SteamOS from different manufacturers. You will also see a lot of small “gaming boxes” with SteamOS to plug in your TV. That’s great!
2. Game Developers will have one distribution to test their games on. One of the bigger problems linux had before SteamOS was the big clusterfuck of different distros. Great for users, but a big headache if you’re developing for it. Now you can say “it runs on SteamOS”, test on SteamOS and you don’t have to deal with bug reports from people running RedStarOS
3. It’s Valve. It’s a company. They are the biggest store selling games and they are building their moat to protect themselves against Microsoft, Apple, Epic & Co. That not exactly great for users, but also explains why Valve is doing this linux push. To prevent Microsoft from abusing their Windows monopoly to crush them

Eindeutig - Sharepoint ist einfach gruselig, total unintuitiv und bricht dazu noch mit allen seit x Jahrzehnten gelernten Dateiverwaltungspraktiken, die dann in schlecht neu erfunden werden, aber inkompatibel.

Ich hab seit einer ganzen Weile das SteamDeck und das funktioniert wirklich ganz zauberhaft. Wenn man nicht gerade die großen AAA-Multiplayergames zocken will oder wirklich uralten und eher obskuren Krams, dann läuft das alles ohne Probleme.

Was für Arschkekse

Um hier zusätzlich zu fragen: Wo bekomme ich denn so ein paar TB an Daten überhaupt vernünftig extern gesichert?

Eigentlich warte ich “nur” noch auf eine Preissenkung. Die Switch ist schon sehr interessant - sie hat ja diverse coole Exklusivspiele, am Ende der Lebenszeit einer Konsole gibt es ja meistens ausgereifte Technik ohne Kinderkrankheiten, die Spiele sind günstiger und auch gebraucht verfügbar und das Spieleangebot insgesamt ist größer. Kommt jetzt die Switch 2, dann zahlst du erstmal einen Premium-Preis, um die Konsole selbst zu kaufen, prügelst dich um die Verfügbarkeit, zahlst dann Vollpreis für jedes Spiel und am Ende gibt es auch zum Launch nur 2-3 interessante Spiele, von denen eins dann doch nicht so geil ist.

Irgendwie logisch, oder? Das Ding ist steinalt, dafür aber dann mit 200€-330€ immer noch sportlich teuer. Bei den Verkaufszahlen wird mittlerweile auch jeder halbwegs interessierte eine Switch haben und solange Nintendo keine deutliche Preissenkung macht, ist es logisch, dass die Verkäufe sinken.

Genau das - sowas muss halt zumindest bundeslandweit entwickelt werden, in die Lehrpläne eingepasst werden und erst dann kann es funktionieren. Von den Lehrern zu erwarten, dass sie jetzt selbst alle eine Mindstorm-Alternative entwickeln und unterrichten, funktioniert natürlich nicht.

Ich finde es eh etwas absurd, dass Lego eine Produktreihe mit der Bekanntheit und der wirklich tiefen Verwurzlung im Schulbereich einfach einstellt. Die Klötze selbst stellen sie ja immer noch her und so extrem viel Aufwand kann es dann auch nicht sein die eigentlich reife Software dann ab und an mal an aktuelle Betriebssysteme anzupassen und die paar Steuerungsplatinen beim Zulieferer zu bestellen. Man muss es ja nicht in alle Läden pushen, sondern könnte es auch einfach online verkaufen und gut ist.
