I’m indeed running my own recursive DNS server called Unbound. Everybody should run one at home.

Yeah, he didn’t share any information about the brand or vendor.
Some vendors also have multiple BIOS-es on the same GPU card (like one overclocked BIOS, and the other is a “normal” BIOS).
You could check if there is a physical switch to switch between modes on your GPU. And see if the other GPU BIOS is also behaving like this.
it’s easy to change your dns server. yet*
Until they block that as well by controlling the root DNS servers.
Yup back to tracking a HOST
file. Maybe I should write a tool that is decentralized writing a host file across the internet and you can use it whenever you want. This will also allow you to get domains that is currently not possible ^^
The reason why I would choose linux mint. Is the stability of the whole distro. It’s pretty solid. You can still upgrade kernels. Or even install mainline kernel tool if you wish.
Furthermore, Linux mint provide an easy tool to install drivers, in case you’re running a Nvidia card. And Mint is just basically Ubuntu under the hood, without the crap of Ubuntu. Meaning mint also support PPAs (personal package repositories). If you wish to get some updated package.
I run Linux Mint for years and years, I think you will be happy with it.
That is why you have KVMs…
@[email protected] You’re doing it wrong. Just setup a KVM behind your server. So then you never need to leave home again.
You’re welcome to join me.
yes, I definitely got a lot of flair 😜
Thank you so much! I mean I have a threadripper with 48 threads.
Hehe I would do the same if I was Meta ;P And ask for forgiveness later or something
Multiple good reasons actually:
Nice! I do like my AMD Framework though. But anyhow, nice to see there is a RISC-V option as well. Especially for early birds, that is for sure.
I personally like the 13 inch format laptop, since I use it as a laptop.
Apart from that, everything else should just work fine out of the box under any modern Linux distro most likely. The only downside I had with my Framework 13 laptop is the sound quality, because the speakers are down firing. You might like that or not. But you can definitely live with it.
Then if you installed your distro of choice, be sure to install power-profiles-daemon for improved battery life. So the chip goes to a lower power state. More info: https://knowledgebase.frame.work/en_us/optimizing-ubuntu-battery-life-Sye_48Lg3
YES! Big yes. I have one as well. Very pleased with it. Be very sure you pick the new 2.8k display version. So either pick 7640U - 2.8K Display or 7840U - 2.8K Display. Which works great for Linux, WITHOUT the need of fractional scaling.
Also be sure to pick the correct + right amount of expansion cards for your needs. 1 USB-C will be used for charging, so just saying.
Yes, Unbound by default will query DNS root servers (root hints) without any middle man, thus greatly improve security. Unless you override
forward-zone:
or one or all stub-zone.But only if it needs to, since Unbound has also a cache to store the DNS queries results.
