5·1 month agoI mean… a show like Buffy is known and accepted to be formulaic. IIRC, Whedon literally referred it as a monster of the week episode vs a “big bad” plot episode. Unfortunately, to most people, pointing it out doesnt make you seem clever, it just makes you obnoxious.

Yeah, not at all. I stopped believing a long time ago. I dont bullshit myself nearly as much anymore. I think it helps me to be more realistic because I know that, even medicated, I am a total basketcase.
As of block 1B, they can absolutely blast surface craft.
The current Phalanx variant (Block 1B) adds the ability to counter asymmetric warfare threats through the addition of an integrated, stabilized, Electro Optic sensor. These improvements give Phalanx the added ability to counter small high speed surface craft, aircraft, helicopters and unmanned aerial systems (UAS).
This could be a legit tactic. If they can use inflatable decoy tanks and other such subterfuge, why not use whole decoy vehicles to force the enemy to commit resources?
