I don’t think Putin is an idiot. If he does like what Trump is doing, why would he say it and potentially make things harder for him? Putin must know that quite a few Republicans (whether they have the spine to say it or not) are at least uneasy about “aligning” with Russia. So why?

Is it a “whatcha gonna do about it” sort of power move? Is he trying to delay these “peace talks” because he actually wants to end things with Ukraine while Trump is effectively holding Zelensky’s arms behind his back?

that’s probably what happens. Tomatoes get at least half-processed in China, so they are less perishable and cheaper to transport and then mixed with that 1% of “true italian” tomato puree and bottled/canned somewhere in Italy so the result can be marketed as an italian product.

If “ghosts” are just the embers of a particularly strong emotion that burned in a particular place, I suggest that “seeing” the ghost depends on being able to tune-in to that emotion and on having the cultural tools to interpret it and personify it.

So I might experience some faint, weird feeling going through a field where a battle between Native American tribes once happened but, as a white person imbued with a specific culture, I would not be able to recognize that particular mix of feelings and “see” that ghost. But a Native American might.

And if a big department store is built on top of that field, it would make it harder to both tune in to that particular faint feeling (among the confusion of so many other feelings) and to personify it as an old Navajo warrior, which would not make sense to us in that place

I see what you mean and I agree with you too. He’s no longer a private citizen “just voicing his opinion” or “just asking questions”. When you are in power, words have consequences.

The issue is that both Musk and Trump were already professional trolls and liars. Now they actually weaponized trolling to create anger and fear, which directly feed votes and power into the side they have chosen to represent. How do you fight that? Do you still try NOT to feed the troll, when the troll is leading the most powerful nation on Earth?
