Alexa, play despacito

Based on your first couple of sentences, I feel like you don’t understand what the concept of the government possessing the monopoly on violence means… Like, in terms of that role socially (as in, for society) itself, or in practical terms. I’m particularly confused by you seeming to assert that technological advancement somehow had altered/was altering this… Governments have used - and I’m sure will continue to use - all of the things you mentioned and a great many more to maintain their monopoly of violence. It isn’t an actual office somewhere or anything technology can necessarily supplant, it’s more of a social construct/contract

Isn’t that arguably only because modern governments maintain a “monopoly on violence,” essentially?
Well… You certainly have a way with words… Some might characterize it as “slightly nauseating,” but that still counts as ‘a way’ if you ask me.
Oh, us poor unfortunate souls

Now do the US

JD Vance: “Well there goes my exit strategy…”
I’ve never felt so seen in my entire life

Wasn’t this the plot of Unbreakable, more or less, but with a train instead?
Well, I’ve heard coolness is a spectrum, and I’ve also been told more than once in my life that I’m ‘definitely on the spectrum’, so… I mean, that’s pretty clearly what they meant, right?
While I may not agree with what you have to say, I shall defend to the death your right to say it.
(Even if it is really mean 🥲)
I’m not gonna lie man, just going off of the name alone - first brush - I’m definitely not what you’d call optimistic based on past experiences
Wait, wat? I’m a cis straight white dude (but like waaay waaaaaay politically left - not like, american left either, real left - which I’m pretty sure cancels some of that out, but anyway) but purple has always been my favorite color by far… Does this mean I’ve gotta go back to the drawing board, so to speak? Lol Cuz I’m willing to compromise… I could see myself like indigo adjacent, perhaps…

I just can’t fathom the amount of mental gymnastics that must be required to simultaneously still sleep at night or look at yourself in the mirror knowing you’re whatever monster that makes these decisions knowing full and well that children WILL die as a direct result of them.
Normally I’d say ‘may God have mercy on your soul’ here, but… We’ll reserve that for someone with some semblance of humanity left inside them, I think.

Ah, yes, threatening to murder teenage girls - Clearly, the moral high ground
Because the ones who such a law would bind are, notably, the same ones who would need to enact and enforce it, largely.
See related; “we’ve investigated ourselves and found us free of any wrongdoing”
Right? I was surprised at the use of ‘confiscated’ in that sentence

Yeah, cuz that narrows it down… 😋

This can’t be true, he hasn’t succumbed to alcohol poisoning (yet) to my knowledge
I suppose you could theoretically utilize the flash functionality in an attempt to catch some sort of glare/reflection back from the hidden camera’s lens… maybe? This is just a guess, however, tbh, and I have my doubts of its efficacy against the borderline frighteningly tiny lenses in use on more modern equipment that is designed specifically to be hidden. The pricier gear could (potentially) even utilize special coatings or treatments intended to mitigate such a detection method for that matter, as there’s clearly no shortage of money surrounding the… “industry,” for lack of a better term.
I certainly wouldn’t consider it a reliable test, that’s for sure
