It’s really reprehensible. Having low wages makes these countries reliant on exporting. They are being exploited for the benefit of richer countries and what to they get as thanks? Tariffs.

Just look through this page and tell me if you weren’t the leader you wouldn’t be begging to be spared:

I imagine there are other countries too that are going to be devastated by the tariffs.
It’s unclear where the Trump administration stands on the tariffs, whose cost will be largely paid by American consumers in the form of higher prices for foreign goods. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told CBS News Tuesday that the tariffs are “negotiable but not a negotiating tactic.”
Trump said Monday that there could be both “permanent tariffs and there could also be negotiations.”
This feels like the start of a really stupid riddle.
I’m negotiable but not a negotiation tactic, I’m permanent but subject to change…
The places are probably developing countries with GDP per capita under $2000
I doubt any well conected country is doing that when america is clearly the underdog in a “civilized world vs america” situation. Tax American services, impose controls on yank companies operating domestically or just size their assets all together. What are they gonna do? Go cry to the WTO?

Trump literally lobotomized it and Europe had to put together a parallel judgement body. No shot it won’t be biased against the US
And what was being pardoned:
“In what may have been a first, Trump pardoned a corporation. The company to earn that distinction was a cryptocurrency exchange sentenced to a $100 million fine for violating an anti-money laundering law.”
Setting a precedent of excusing money laundering really does just feel like “I want to destroy the country” with not a whole lot else going on.
My point is it’s already for sale, both in bankruptcy proceedings and potentially in less legitimate spaces
Doesn’t this just increase the value of the already for sale 23 and Me data?
I don’t think “depleted stocks” is good way for saying there are tanks available but not usable but I also don’t know what a better wording would be so maybe it’s accurate. Thanks for elaborating regardless.
Even without assuming they’ll use low quality examples, the article also says
According to researchers, only about 1,200 tanks can still be relatively easily restored after major repairs.
It sure sounds like the title is BS.
Wrote down not off.

Debt is written off when deemed unrecoverable.
Assets can be written down when the value is lower than expected. Often this is due to more rapid depreciation of capital assets due to damage or impairments to goodwill (brand failure).
But none of that matters because private equity valuations are all bullshit and mean nothing anyways.

Denmark has not kept pace and devoted the resources necessary to keep this base, to keep our troops, and in my view, to keep the people of Greenland safe from a lot of very aggressive incursions from Russia, from China and other nations," Vance said. He gave no details of the alleged incursions. The U.S. vice president said Russia, China and other nations are taking an “extraordinary interest” in Arctic passageways, naval routes and minerals in the region and the U.S. will invest more resources, including naval ships and military icebreakers that will have a greater presence in the country.
It sounds like there is one one group doing more aggressive incursions.
No, because it’s speculation.
It’s far more comfortable to think it’s being done for some malicious reason rather than out of stupidity or fear.
“I’m available for a call, but you know, we’re going to talk on our terms as a sovereign country, not as what he pretends we are,” Carney told reporters in Newfoundland on the second day of a general election campaign.
Carney is so snarky and bitter, I love it.
I much prefer my cheap plastic electric kettle that imbues each cup of tea with microplatics
Microwaves are also one of the best methods for cooking vegetables due to minimal nutrients being sucked out by water (unless you’re drinking your boiled broccoli water of course) and no charring (yummy cancer) but it’s seen as inferior by most.
That said I’ve literally never cooked tofu in the microwave and I’m hesitant to even try lol
Psychotic. Terrifying. Beautiful.
Serbia winning big with largest increase.
Any Serbians able to weight in on why?
Asian males once again forgotten.
For oil, one has to understand that the fixed costs for operating the network are substantial so there is a lot of ability for price making by the purchaser. The price of WTI serves as an effective cap for WCS.
The price of WTI is artificially low due to the 3/4th of a TRILLION of USD that has been pumped into oil subsidies.

For pharma, it’s not that we wouldn’t have patents- patents are important for investment. It’s the duration of them that is different due to US influence.
I will concede on the environmental impact, I’m just especially bitter about the 13 million dollar settlement for the priviledge to have gas that causes respiratory irritation.
If I want Canada to be the greatest nation it can be I have to recognize the contribution of a friendly USA that existed basically uninterrupted until two months ago.
Like selling our oil 20% below the price for comparable oil on international markets, the continued Americanization of our media and culture, numerous instances of fighting over our arctic sovereignty, the erosion of generic drugs via patent extensions for the benefit of American pharma, pushing for the dismantling of one of our greatest technological accomplishments (Avro Arrow) to favor US products, and numerous cases of American companies using NAFTA to bully the government to allow the destruction of our environment because they aren’t that bad see Lone Pine Resources v. Canada or Ethyl Corporation v. Canada.
This has always been a shit relationship, it’s just more obvious now.
US treasuries is literally what we used in university as the “risk free rate”
When you have government officials saying they want to default on the “risk free” bonds it undermines markets in a completely unprecedented way.
Shockingly stupid.
