  • It is also necessary to spend more in the ramp up phase of any project, especially an expedited one.

What I’m most concerned about is a bunch of 20th century dinosaurs building up a conventional fighting force in 2025. As much as I hate to say it, the EU should focus primarily on drone and cyber warfare and the “AI” automation systems to control them. 1 multi-million dollar tank doesn’t stand a chance against a swarm of a dozen (or hundred) thousand-dollar kamakazi drones. I’d prefer they not exist, but Russia, China, and America will have no reservations building killbots.

The EU should also focus on domestic chip fabrication, and providing protection to Taiwan.

  • International law was already completely irrelevant when it came to the developed world imposing its will on the entire developing world, or anyone classified as an “enemy”. There are hundreds of violations across the years that were never enforced, from America carpet bombing south east asia and installing puppet regimes around the world, to Russias use of phosphorous warheads and chemical weapons in Syria, to Israel (and allies) genocide in Palestine.

International laws have only ever been, at best, gentleman’s agreements among the developed world’s oligarchs and political classes.

What’s happening now is the US political class and oligarchy are shifting allegiance to fascist authoritarianism and imperialism, because both are populated with mentally ill narcissists and psychopaths of insatiable greed and megalomania, completely detached from reality; no different to the feudalist monarchs, emperors and pharaohs of old.

I also don’t believe this is an America problem, as much as it is a capitalism problem. Americas oligarchy are no different to Russias oligarchy, who are no different to Chinas oligarchy, who are no different to every oligarchy. They are borderless, stateless, only worship wealth and power, and are a reflection of the psychology created by unchecked wealth and power; these people view themselves as the rightful rulers of humanity, by virtue of their wealth and power, and views concepts like democracy a direct threat to their existence.

  • Well it was pretty obvious when America failed to succeed in Vietnam, then Iraq and Afghanistan. Spending dozens of trillions building up and perpetuating the most powerful military, and nuclear arsenal, couldn’t defeat peasants.

If the goal was actually to fight for freedom, they could have funded education and it would’ve cost 1/10th the trillions they spent murdering people… But they’d never do that, because they refuse to even educate their own citizens; they’ve been choosing corporate profits over citizen wellbeing since inception, and calling it “freedom”.

  • Imagine how much damage Trump will do once he starts wielding his dictatorial powers using big tech companies and cloud providers. If he banned them from servicing any country he could cripple their governments and critical infrastructure, who are all dependent on some combination of Windows / Azure, AWS, GCP, Cloudflare, etc.

If he wanted to invade canada the fascist secret police could push updates to all of Canadas Windows, Apple, and Android devices — that bricks them like ransomware at a set time and date — and disable all their cloud services; crippling the entire economy without firing a shot.

America’s former allies need to start the transition to Linux and non-US/distributed services NOW. It would take a decade under the best of circumstances.

  • Under Trump, he said, America could no longer be relied on.

This should be “with a population that supports and enables a kleptocratic dictatorship, America could no longer be relied on.”

This isn’t just Trump. It’s American conservatives, the whole political class, corporations, and civilian population that are ultimately to blame for this mess (in that order). Anything less than a civil war won’t result in the threat being neutralised for decades, and will define the rest of 21st Century geopolitics.

  • Lol. The US is a fucking failed state that couldn’t even defeat Vietnamese, Afghan, or Iraqi peasants at the peak of their empire, with trillions of dollars in capital… Literally 1000x more capital than their enemy.

Every country needs to grow balls, forge alliances, and tell the US to collectively get fucked. They’re swinging their dick around like they hold the cards, when they’re grossly incompetent, and without the rest of the world playing ball the US is fucking dead in the water. All of their wealth is worthless without the global supply chain. They will collapse in months without us.

Even if Ukraine’s gov fell, it’s likely Russia would be locked in a guerrilla warfare quagmire (like Afghanistan in the 80’s). If the USSR couldn’t defeat a bunch of peasants, why would a state with 1/10th the power be able to defeat Ukraine?

If the EU is smart — and not a bunch of capitalist oligarchies masquerading as “democracies” — they’ll offer asylum and jobs to US scientists, and brain drain the US of what little remaining leverage they have.
