If you’ve got the 'tism though, things just don’t tend to work how they should, and there’s probably not much to be done about that.

Saying this from a perspective of someone with autism diagnosis and having done therapy and all that. I have problems with feeling and recognizing emotions (especially my own), and problems with self-regulation, so this cycle of not starting is very real. The advice I’ve gotten from professionals basically boils down to “try to stop demanding things from yourself that you can’t do even if someone else can do it, because it is harming your mental health”. I lack something in the emotional department and you can’t really work on emotions if you can’t properly feel and process them in the first place…

Any diagnosis shouldn’t be an excuse for not trying and things can work very differently to different people, buuuut. Just saying that if you keep banging your head against the wall with this stuff and getting nowhere, there might be some other underlying reasons why things are difficult

Sometimes sitting in weird positions might be a sign of pain in cats, even though it looks just cute and funny to us. If you ever notice continuing signs like that in your cat, especially paired with things like older age or licking some spots exessively, it’s best to consult vet just in case. They might be just lil’ weirdoes like they sometimes are, but it’s better to be safe than sorry

  • Yeah… It sucks. I have some Marion Zimmer-Bradleys books in the shelf that have been unread for years because I learned of the author’s pedophilia when I was in the middle of that series. Really soured the whole thing. At least with Eddings they were caught and punished and didn’t do evil shit for decades afterwards, so you can keep up some hope they became better people in the end…

  • Yeah, I loved pretty much all Eddings wrote, because it’s such simple, light-hearted style of fantasy. Even thinking the Death of the Author (they’re not profiting from the books you already own, and are quite literally dead so nobody suffers or benefits from you owning or reading the books) it leaves such a bad taste in your mouth. Since now every time you read or even think of the books, you remember what pieces of shit the authors were and it taints the whole thing.

I always fear reading up about authors (and musicians, actors… etc.) because so many of them turn out to be such pieces of shit and that ruins everything

  • If Putin gains parts of Ukraine, the war will not end. It means he succeeded in the war; that the west is weak. Which in turn means the war will “end” as in Russia will just regroup and build it’s war resources for a while - maybe some years, maybe more, maybe less - and then attack somewhere again. Why would they stop? Russian imperialism is not based on logic or reason; it was insane to attack Ukraine in the first place.

It is pointless to expect Putin to be somehow reasonable or actively want to stop warring. It is also completely pointless to believe whatever he or his lackeys say, they’ve lied from every step on the way and will continue to do so for their own benefit. It’s very likely the war will continue whatever the result in Ukraine is anyway, it can only be postponed now that Russia has again started on this damned path. If Putin gains land, they won and it’ll continue; if they don’t gain anything, Putin needs to attack again to prove it wasn’t a loss. I cannot believe people still seem to think you can somehow just reason with Russia
