I see nothing wrong with that.
I just think it’s fair to say the way they ask for donations is at least a little bit disingenuous.

It’s not that simple and transparent actually. Wikipedia doesn’t really need those donations to operate. They have money reserves for many years of expenses. I don’t have a great source right now but this article looks decent. I didn’t read the whole thing though.

I would probably fall in love if I got to hear a 30 minute, passionate info dump on a date.

Same for me. The technology is cool. Big tech corporations are not.

Chrome is just faster than Firefox. I use Firefox, but I do it despite its performance, not because of it.

TBH, yeah, that’s what I consider the point of my life - amusing myself until death. Whatever I do will not matter in 100, 1000 or 1000000 years which is all just a blip in the scale of the universe. So basically, I’m just trying to have fun and help other people have fun. Of course I realize that I’m incredibly privileged to live a life where I don’t have to worry about too much and I can think about fun and not surviving. I experienced difficult periods in my life and the answer to this question was much, much harder back then.

Yes! I actually couldn’t resist reading it again when posting it.

This is what always comes to my mind when someone mentions Enlightenment: https://web.archive.org/web/20230424121033/https://what.thedailywtf.com/topic/15001/enlightened. Might provide some answers too.

Well, I didn’t even get to this part. But… it doesn’t have scrollback? Really? That’s crazy!

Since the review doesn’t mention any downsides I’m gonna go ahead and share one. This might seem like a tiny thing but relatively slow startup turned out to be a total deal breaker for me. In my workflow, I open and close a lot of terminal windows. Sometimes I spawn terminals just for a few seconds to run a single command and then close them. Kitty and Alacritty launch instantaneously whereas Ghostty has a noticeable lag which was just infuriating to me. Also, it doesn’t have any useful (for me) features not present in Kitty so yeah, I guess it’s not for me.

This is exactly how I got diagnosed with autism.
My autistic ass is around 4 months in into eating the same dinner almost every day. And like 3 years into eating mostly the same supper.
You might want to check out fatrace. It can tell you exactly which processes access the given filesystem.
