  • Didn’t know much about this community, but honestly it gets some of my respect for pushing against the current main narrative.

Violence isn’t necessarily always a bad thing - otherwise, Europe and Japan would look drastically different today.

Leaving out that the reporter was a mass reporter likely stirring up trouble, I think it’s natural in dire and extreme times for people to wish for more extreme actions to happen to evil people. It’s not as of people wishing that will necessarily do it (just in case, I wish for enough money to buy a house and retire with the basics), it’s just a way for them to vent the frustration they have at Injustice they can’t otherwise do anything about.

Not to mention silencing the side that wishes death against those advocating for the death of others always seemed to be… Hypocritical to me.

So in all, I think this community’s admins did good. If people left over that, maybe it’s for the better not to have them.

Debian didn’t have a stable release until 1996… Even Slackware didn’t shape up nicely until around 98 from what I remember. SLS gave it a GUI but wasn’t well maintained. Linux wasn’t really “good” until early 2000s at the very least.

I just wanted to play Space Cadet Pinball or Commander Keen as a kid, not compile my programs.

You’re clearly talking about modern Linux.

And then there’s 90s Linux because your parents got a used computer with a friend that came with only that and they didn’t want to spend money buying windows 😢 it’s like learning to swim by being yeeted into the ocean, with a couple sharks hanging around.

At least 80s kids got assembly.

  • I called it in 2015 when I stated Trump would win because the Democrats have moved too far right and people are angry or indifferent and will vote for Trump for the sake/hope of any change, and that even though hell probably lose re-election he or anyone else that’s populist would win right after that.

I moved to another country almost 6 years ago now. I was prepping since Highschool when I had seen Bush steal the election via the supreme court and Florida beforehand and Obama’s policies afterwards being just as right-wing in many ways. I only had some hope at first since he had raised the minimum wage, but the ACA was too strong a compromise.

Though if you studied history, you could say the USA was eventually doomed to fail ever since the Civil War’s aftermath was solved “amicably”. That allowed the cancer to remain and spread again. The whole “unity for the sake of unity” bs started then.

  • Just want to point out, EU inflation rate from 2015 - 2024 is a 12% change, so out of the 3 examples listed only the EU has had stable prices. Technically housing prices went down in some EU countries based on this information, like Portugal. And EU inflation has gone down since the 2022 spike, which means there was a tiny housing bubble in 2022.

This only applies to housing prices of course - rent is a different story so being addressed in different ways across different EU members.

    Orange Pi 3b with dietpi.

I’ve had Big screen work before in Raspberry Pi 4 (even made a meme about back when I was tinkering around with different OS’s on it to see potential uses for my rpi), but Orange Pis are cheaper and the hardware is more open source, so I’m curious if I would get better responsiveness out of it. Plus the Orange Pi I have has 8gb too.

I like your Steam Big picture idea too.

Don’t know, have been thinking of making something easy to use for awhile for some of my family members anyway. But has to be really easy since they’re not the most tech literate (well may my mom and definitely dad. If he can use whatever I make, anyone can).
