What a beautiful goof. I’m so sorry. ❤️
Of everything I said, that’s the part you decided to focus on?
e: not that trump had said he’d glass the region to build hotels?
You’re kidding, right? You think that aid is because of trump, when you’re responding in an article that says his stated motives are the opposite of that?
Much of that aid was already secured before he took office. Shit takes time – especially in a war zone. Wait a month or so and get back to me on whether aid from the US continues. The US has been giving aid to many places that will continue for a short while until the new policies filter through.
Listen to what the new moron-in-chief says, and notice that some policies take a bit of time to take effect. Like the US economy, for instance. Large systems don’t turn on a dime.
Great fucking job, bothsiders. Now you get Genocide++.
I really hope you’re happy that your conscience is clean now the guy who’s main spokesman said Gaza’s ‘waterfront property could be very valuable’ and who himself declared it ‘could be better than Monaco’, clearly with an eye towards beachfront real estate, has the power to make that happen for his own gain.
This was entirely predictable, and we told you this would happen. Trump told you so himself. The dems weren’t perfect by any stretch, but Kamala absolutely wasn’t looking at the situation as to how she could personally profit through real estate development if the Palestinians were just wiped off the map as quickly as possible. Trump likely had the choicest property mapped out, with property developers already submitting proposals.
If you abstained because of both-sides re Israel, fuck you. You at best were played and at worst helped to play others, and now we ALL get to suffer.

For real though, this may be what she’s actually thinking.
I think you’re totally right. She’s a really good mouser, and normally kills what she catches – until this week. I live in a 140 year old house, and the mice like to come inside for warmth in winter. This will only be the second winter she’s lived here with me, and she’s brought me 2 live mice this month – but only one into my bed. She may be getting frustrated that I don’t kill and eat them like I’m supposed to.
e: it kinda seems she’s trying to make it as easy as possible.
Follow up:
Alt text: Now she’s looking at me like this, like it’s my fault I lost it. I tore the whole bed apart. She caught it, and I have to sleep with it, but that’s my fault, obviously.
I assumed it was a stock photo. I never hold anything against faces I see in media, especially when they’re lit this professionally, because they’re often stock photos.
No. Not even remotely. Not even if I was assured it was a simulation. No.
Cat will out. It is inevitable. Embrace or perish.
The common excuse I’ve seen from them is that he was entitled to have all of it.
Of course, they also freaked out about Biden having a few things from his previous White House stint in his garage around the same time (none of which held a candle to what trump had in quantity or severity), but nevermind that double standard. Trump was allowed because reasons.
Death camps. I’m not kidding – we are seeing the exact same phenomenon as Germany in the early 30s, with propaganda supercharged by the internet. Many, many people are just too wrapped up in themselves to see what’s actually happening, and they will only retreat into themselves further as things get worse. It’s a coping mechanism.
Aren’t prophets basically god using a VPN?
Lemmy and BlueSky (primarily Lemmy).
BlueSky’s mobile app is such a clone of twitter, transitioning is nearly seamless for the average user. I tried mastodon at first, but it felt pretty rocky and different (and I’m rather techy).
Between BlueSky and Voyager for Lemmy (I was an Apollo user on Reddit), my user experience hasn’t changed at all – except for the pleasant lack of bots and Nazis on both platforms.
And then there’s the problem that the only people who have the possible power to pass electoral reform belong to one of the two major parties, and it’s completely against the interest of those major parties to get rid of FPTP
This is generally true, but I’d say there’s a nonzero chance the Dems will be persuaded to support it – mostly because they’ve shown some support so far and because they don’t have a stranglehold on their base. The Republicans will fight it until their last breath, but the Dems are a coalition party held together by hopes and dreams, and they’ve been made to learn lately that they will lose if they don’t acknowledge progressives (this is part of why Walz was chosen – he’s the closest thing to a socialist they’ve chosen in recent memory). Without progressives, they will fail, and ditching FPTP would mean more engagement from a wide swathe of leftists, which would effectively shut out the far right. It’s in the best interest for the moderate left to be campaigning against the far left than the far right, and ditching FPTP would give them that.*.

And that’s the thing many people don’t seem to get: the US is not a 2 party system by design – there are actually many parties in the US, including Green, Libertarian, Constitution, Forward, No Labels, Working Families, Alliance, etc, many of which have been on the national ticket. Darrell Castle (Constitution Party) was on the presidential ballot in 2016, for example (I included him in a satirical anti-trump graphic I made in 2016).
The problem isn’t a lack of parties, but that the mathematics of FPTP means they literally can’t gain purchase. If you want 3rd parties to matter, instead of protest* voting or abstaining, start working towards replacing FPTP now for future elections. These conversations only seem to happen in autumn of an election year, which is far too late.
Put your effort into something like FairVote Action so we don’t have to deal with this nonsense forever.

Everything was sticky, too. Sometimes you’d put your quarter in the rim above the existing quarter, then after like an hour and half a pizza later, you’d realise your family was alone in the place and nobody had approached the machine. You’d go back and try to pick up the quarters, but the placeholding one was basically glued to the glass by coke and who knows what, obviously having been there for weeks.
Kind of amazing the coin slot didn’t glue itself shut.
