

I believe he did have a visa and applied for asylum, although being the son of a politician unless there are some very unusual circumstances, his asylum claim seems dubious.
That said, he was following the rules as they exist and should not have been arrested.
This is what made me suspicious. Usually when a politician supports someone there’s no need to make vague statements like this because you can easily find a quote from her explaining her positions in her own words. The lack of such quotes seems conspicuous.
Regarding the Latinas for Trump claim, I can’t find any other sources making this claim, so I suspect this is just misinformation. I did find several statements from the real Latinas for Trump founders criticizing Trump’s immigration policy, though none had people close to them harmed directly. It seems to be a US based organization founded by local US politicians, so it would be quite surprising if this Colombian woman was involved, especially when she’s not mentioned as a founder elsewhere.
