It’s all a matter of perspective, other animals would think the same about us for such concepts as:

    • Menstruation - Heck, the whole pregnancy thing is basically body horror to almost anything but mammals regardless of the benefits. Even many woman think as such.
    • Our spines are a mess. They are not made for walking upright, and our knees are just as bad.
    • Choking on food is simply not possible for many animals. Why would you route air and food through the same place?

Now, compare this to let’s say a jellyfish, which didn’t even change that much for millions of years because it just works.

That’s the fun part, we don’t know actually! There are some theories though. Among others:

Could be for females to better select their mates since you simply cannot fuck without their consent. On that note, do you know about duck genitals?

Others think it could be camouflage since females, especially cubs, get attacked more often. Did I mention that females also have a fake scrotum?

There’s also the idea that the penis is for social purposes. Females can get an erection and inspecting as well as licking each others erections is a normal greeting in hyena land! Presenting your erection is a submissive thing though.

If you dive deep enough into the rabbit hole, you could be the first to discover the truth!

If that helps, it’s actually a really long clitoris which is used to urinate, copulate and well… give birth. The first-born cubs are usually stillborn as the pseudo-penis needs to rip open, which does take some extra time the first time around. There’s also a solid chance the mother dies in the process.

  • That honestly wasn’t a good idea from the get-go. Don’t get me wrong, I’m really glad to be in Germany instead of the US, but there are several reasons I’d be open to leave for years now. It’s been obvious we’ve been running into major future problems nobody does anything about. But then again, once you actually look into it, pretty much every country has gone to shit or never has been anything but.

A small list of problems in Germany: political shift to the far right; reliance on a dying industry; avoiding debt at all costs; no investment in infrastructure or any modernization; the inevitable collapse of our pension system; degrading health care; pretty much missing workers in all fields and still hating on immigrants; a crippling bureaucracy overhead for everything; a society dead-set on both complaining about everything and wanting to change nothing.

So, what’s your point? Other people might have a lot more boring childhood anecdotes to tell, but it’s not like I’m suffering in any kind. I still remember people or useful skills - the stuff I do use.

As an added benefit of growing up quite poor, I probably just had less unique experiences I actually could recall. Like, I’ve been on three travel vacations overall. Kinda like those COVID years blurred together for most people.

Nah, it’s just shitty memory. I have had quite the happy childhood, actually.

I don’t find myself reminiscing a lot and in the rare cases I do, there are quite some gaps. Even in more recent times. If I really try to dig, maybe it comes back, but I assume it’s “use it or lose it”.

It’s been a while, but I think it’s quite trivial.

After one second, they span a right angled triangle, therefore (using a² + b² = c²) their distance is √(5²+1²) = ~5.1 ft

They move at constant speed, therefore they seperate at 5.1 ft/s. That means at 5s it’s just 5.1 × 5 = 25.5 ft for the distance and their speed is still the same.
