I get that they aren’t cheap but the quality of life for me was so worth it.

I bought an Ember Mug and despite it being pretty pricey I haven’t regretted it one bit.

I honestly don’t have a dedicated fidget toy. I have a leather phone case with a magnetic strap and I use that. It’s pretty satisfying to flick the little strap open and shut and listen to the little noise of the magnet snapping it into place.
This is the way.

Actually kind of a relief to know I’m not weird. Well, I mean I’m also weird but that this particular thing was common.

Summit also has tags. It’s definitely a great feature.

I think it’s possible Kirby meant the “silent” part as an opposition to the more “loud” nature of both modernism and postmodernism.
Otherwise I don’t know. I am autistic myself but it comes in all sorts of flavours from my experience.

We have now probably moved past that, however. We’re either in post-postmodernism or “pseudo-modernism” as described by some:
Kirby associates pseudo-modernism with the triteness and shallowness resulting from the instantaneous, direct, and superficial participation in culture made possible by the internet, mobile phones, interactive television and similar means: “In pseudo-modernism one phones, clicks, presses, surfs, chooses, moves, downloads.”
Pseudo-modernism’s “typical intellectual states” are furthermore described as being “ignorance, fanaticism and anxiety” and it is said to produce a “trance-like state” in those participating in it. The net result of this media-induced shallowness and instantaneous participation in trivial events is a “silent autism” superseding “the neurosis of modernism and the narcissism of postmodernism.”
You get as far as 75%? Impressive.

Upgrading from chair-and-floor piles to the same solution as you was a massive improvement. I can’t believe it took me literal years to buy a simple little hook-thingy to put on my door.
…actually *looks around* I can believe it. It makes a lot of sense it would take years now that you mention it. Nevermind.
Yeah this is the one.

Damn it, I had forgotten about these and now I miss them too.
Unrelated to the meme itself but I fucking hate the term “neurospicy”. It reeks of TikTokers trying to posit themselves as “quirky” in their bio and has the same problematic downplaying of actual issues that “it’s not a disability, it’s a superpower” does.
If they could at least just pick a lane things would be so much easier.

Same. I even used to use that as username.

The creator would have had no stubble, denim pants that touch the ground and are usually wet, and hope for the future.
I wonder if we were the last unsullied generation who were allowed to have regular childhoods without the weight of soul crushing despair over the future.

Then be that poster yourself, I guess? There’s not much that can be done about this, this is just sort of how human beings work. Most people are going to be silent consumers and lurkers.

Also why are 60% of all autism posts by you?
Only 60% of posts by one individual actually means the community is active and thriving. Are you familiar with the 90-9-1 rule? Lemmy is still small enough that most communities that are any activity at all are being carried by a single individual.
Can we stop with the narrative that disorders that completely fuck your life up and make you struggle with things normal people do without thinking is somehow a "“superpower”?
This is what I tell my doctor regularly on checkups. Can’t really say it’s helping a ton but I sure do notice whenever I run out so it must be doing something.
