I mean we had to get off the US’ teats at some point, it’s been 80 years. A pity that it had to happen like this, but we have to look forward and turn Europe into the beacon of democratic ideals that the US refuses to be anymore. It will be a hard and rocky road for sure, but we can come out the other side stronger and better in every way.

Yep, Vance is in a way more dangerous than Trump. Trump might throw wrenches in the fascists’ plans by either blurting them out proudly thinking it was his idea or by being too afraid of being unpopular (which he is obviously obsessed with) and taking back some of the changes due to public pressure. Vance on the other hand will be just a hand puppet for Putin and/or Musk.

There are a lot of old people who vote CDU because “that’s what we have always done”. Many people don’t bother to read what the parties actually stand for. If they are told, they often don’t believe it. Same with protest voters choosing the fascist AfD “to show those corrupt politicians on top”. Meanwhile AfD is the most corrupt party of all, by far.
As a European, I would say a US president repeatedly theatening a EU country with invasion is already pretty serious in itself.
Sounds like someone who suffered from serious abuse, never went to actual therapy in a meaningful way but instead got into a position of power where he could feel good by being the abuser instead of the abused. Which does not excuse any of it. On the contrary, his writing shows very clearly that he understands that what he did was wrong, but he did it regardless.
Yes, he was opposed to Catholicism because it was a threat to the total rule of the Nazi party over every aspect of life, but he was following “German Christianism”, which was a Protestant splinter group in line with Nazi ideology.

When the German cannibal Armin Meiwes was on trial, it was actually a legal conundrum. Meiwes’ victim had explicitly consented to being killed and eaten, even dictating how he wanted to have it done to himself. So was it murder or more of a convoluted version of assisted suicide (“killing on demand” is the legal term in Germany)? He was eventually convicted of manslaughter and got a prison sentence of eight and a half years, a few years later changed to a sentence for life.
