  • That’s good to know. I’m pretty good at fitting into tight spaces too, and think working on machines would be really interesting. My dad actually did millwright apprenticeship for a year before changing to welding, so I’ve spoken to him about it too, but it’s good to have multiple perspectives, especially from someone who actually does it as a career. I’m also Canadian, so that’s good to know too.

  • We just signed a lease on a new place. Most of the paperwork we could do online but a couple things needed to be dropped off in person at the realtor’s office. It’s a decently large office and there’s TVs there with info and stuff for staff. A few panels that show up talk about seminars for how to better sell a property, and one of them was called “The AI Revolution in Realty”. I have no idea how AI can help with selling a place, everyone I know wants to view places in person. I guess if you’re selling a place to someone overseas who’s about to come here for school (pretty common where I live), then maybe AI can help deceive them so they’re more likely to purchase/rent? That’s the only thing I could think of. Realty is a decently in-person job, that’s not something AI can be integrated with. Maybe I’m wrong and there’s a good explanation for it, but I can’t think of one. It’s the most forced integration with AI I’ve seen personally.

  • The board game? It’s Carcassonne, a game where you build the board as you play. I’ve got the big box which has all 11 expansions and I think I paid around $120 CAD for it (approx $85 USD) but the base game is obviously much cheaper.

On your turn, you place a piece to add it to the board, then if you want you can add a meeple (those little wooden guys) on a road, castle, or farm. When a road or castle gets completed, whoever is on it gets points from it. At the end of the game, if you have a farmer, any completed castles on your land also gets you points. There’s obviously more to it than that but that’s the basics. It’s my wife’s favourite game and it’s pretty easy to learn so it’s good for games nights when we have people over, but it’s also playable with just two people as well.
