I’m fresh out of uni and I’m trying to learn new stuff, but idk what to do with my life anymore.
I’m assuming you are actively looking for a job in a field relevant to your degree? If not, that is your life until you find one; some branching out may be required if your particular field isn’t in demand.
I’m being offered to take a sysadmin certification for this particular distribution I know absolutely nothing about…The exam is free, but I must pass it, or else I must pay for it and then take it again.
Unless this certification is specifically listed as a requirement for a job your are applying to, don’t do the certification. They are normally expensive and not that helpful.
Yeah, kids are darn expensive. I’m damn happy my parents decided to have me despite that fact. :)
To answer OP’s question, also doing better than them at the same age. Big part of it was investing early (time-value of money is a massive deal) and keeping the same car forever. My parents have spent quite a bit on cars over the years, it is probably their largest reducible expense. I bought a lightly used crossover a long time ago, and it’s got a long life ahead of it.
Time Traveler: Has World War I happened yet?
Random Person: ?
Time Traveler: Uh, I mean The Great War
Random Person: Yeah, just ended a few years ago.
…
Random Person: Wait, why did you call it World War I?
Do note that SSDs are orders of magnitude slower than RAM (it’s why you have both, and not just a giant SSD). You can feel the machine come to a screeching halt the moment swap is used for active tasks.
Yeah, it is basically never worth the effort to de-solder and re-solder RAM. It’s why people rail so hard on it and why you should pay attention to it’s (non-) existence next computer you buy. It hurts you years down the line when what should have been a cheap upgrade is turned into simply binning what you own and buying new.
I believe the deal was NATO or nukes. And, with the US shitting all over Ukraine now…
The East is in a poor state because The West illegally annexed it
Wut? Germany was a singular country until the Soviet Union occupied half of it. Re-uniting the occupied territories with the rest of the country is literally the opposite of an illegal annexation.
East Germany never fully recovered after Soviet occupation and the desolation the Soviets created. Germany has invested heavily rebuilding the east, but there is a constant brain drain, causing western migration of every German capable enough. This has left the east in a poor state they still have yet to recover from. The people in that region know this, but it doesn’t change the fact they don’t feel good about the lingering differences, which influences their voting behaviors heavily.
Linux instructions:
Relevant commands:
nordvpn settings
- lists out settingsnordvpn set [SettingName] [NewValue]
- sets the relavent settingnordvpn whitelist add subnet [Mask]
- whitelists the specified subnet to allow in traffic originating therenordvpn d
and nordvpn c
- to disconnect and connectifconfig
- gets your current IPBringing it all together:
Run ifconfig
to get your current IP. It’s most likely 192.168.1.xxx
Run nordvpn whitelist add subnet 192.168.1.0/24
to add your subnet to the whitelist (change the first three sections of the subnet to match what your IP is in the first command if it is different)
Run nordvpn settings
to view all settings and verify they look right, you should see your subnet in the whitelist section now
Run nordvpn c
to reconnect and apply your new settings
Now LAN connections can reach your computer, even while it is connected to the VPN. For incomming WAN connections, verify port forwarding is setup on your router to point to the computer.
Optional:
nordvpn set analytics disabled
to disable analyticsNordVPN can be set to allow LAN traffic through. So, if you setup port forwarding on your router, which it sounds like you already did, it will then allow that LAN traffic in.
Yep. The core issue is Congress continues to give the executive more and more power every administration (both D and R). Congress needs to take back some of their own power.
This announcement is basically saying he’s going to micromanage the fucking entire Executive Branch government.
That is pretty much the point of the executive, and by extension, the president. Congress creates departments with powers and the executive administers them.
I can’t wait to see what the US does with this new front of the meta and how they will defeat everything with the application of more and more accurate scissors. You have a rock? Well, we will just defeat that with the correct scissor. Enjoy your day, i-rock!
In the larger meta: The enemy attempts to hard-counter with air-defense? Uno-reverse, hard counter the air-defense with air!
You don’t really need one that is specifically Linux based, as you can format a windows box to Linux at will. Really any 10" laptop you find on cragslist or ebay should do.
Honestly, the only difficult requirement will be the 10" part. 12"-13" are much more common for small laptops.
How would Russia benefit from attacking Chernobyl?
Russia has consistently applied wanton violence as a tool in this war. This is a threat to Ukraine: take a bad deal or things can get worse for you.
Russia should have thought of that before they invaded in 2014 and invaded later again in 2022. Actions have consequences and Russia’s actions have been disastrous to Russians.
Not everything is politics. Enjoy some football!
About 300 North Koreans were killed and 2,700 wounded
North Korea sent 10,000 troops. The stated 30% loss rate means the units are combat ineffective. The only real choices are to withdraw or send more.
Put a percentage of every paycheck into an index fund (ex: VTI) and sit on them for a few years. You too will have capital gains.
Average returns on index funds are 6%-8%/yr, compounding. They are a solid long-term investment.
As a corollary, not doomscroling social media and news articles helps immeasurably. Seriously, stop it, it is not good for one’s health.
Spend more time doing things you enjoy.
