  • Yeah like after World War 2, when the government imposed The New Deal and the economy worked and the middle class were able to exist and have a family with a single full time job whilst having 90% corporate tax for higher end earnings?

Or, during Reagan and Thatcherism when the government imposed the neoliberal nightmare that gave us the 2008 crash and put every single country in the world into debt we have never been able to escape and defined the future of the next 3 generations after GenX?

What about during Covid, when the world governments imposed “relief” through gifted billions to the ruling class as subsidies they never paid back?

The government imposed all of these. It’s not freedom if there is no class mobility. Dynastic wealth is monarchy. Lick the shit off the boots, like a good citizen and jog on.

  • But it isn’t incongruent. Because Depardieu and Pierre were not honoured for, or, in-spite of their crimes. Their crimes were not public knowledge at the time of their inductions. Depardieu is probably going to be stripped from the Legion d’Honneur anyway, unless his appeal goes through. Pierre is dead, so cannot stand trial to be found guilty. Implying congruence supposes a direct knowledge, or tacet endorsement of those crimes… So, it’s not incongruent for Gisele to be inducted into Legion d’Honneur, because Depardieu and Pierre were not knowingly inducted for, or in-spite of their crimes. Which makes this irony, dressed up as an institutional failing, which it is not.

  • That’s a lot of inference you’re expecting people to make from : Legion d’Honneur has previously had inductees guilty of crimes that Gisele Pelicot testified against. Je ne sais pas, bro. I don’t feel like anyone is calling for other highest honours in the land to be belittled, or that the list of previous recipients means anything in relation to the significance conveyed by those awards today. Just seems like “well akshually…” without any real point. Especially since Depardieu is awaiting an appeal for a crime, which if it fails, will have him stripped of his title and Pierre is dead. You cannot posthumously strip someone the title. So, it’s much ado about nothing.

  • Road signs, like Stop signs, Yield signs. They all use lead as a primary ingredient, I think Chromium is the other metal they use. It’s durable and the Matte-Metallic finish makes the sign easy to read in all lightings. You can still get lead as an additive to oil-based paints, but it’s heavily restricted. You’d have to have a specific use case to import it, it’s called flake white. Metal additives change the texture and reflective properties of the paint, lead is mostly swapped out for zinc and titanium now though.
