I’m not sure about raw material. But for processed goods, to much tariff would create a situation where the local industry would price their product targeting a market segment with tariff included. It’s only good for preserving industries in short term solution. Prolong tariff would make them lose their competitiveness in world market and become reliant on tariff to survive…
The benefit of forest is still there, and I’m glad they discover a problem it can potentially caused so that any other country that wish to replicate this can do a better planning
