im looking to get an appletv, cause its basically the most privacy-friendly streaming box you can get (unless you make a linux box of course), but im not sure if you can use something like smarttube on an appletv. I can barely watch youtube with the ads its insane. I don’t know if this helps you but I use yt-dlp to download from my favorite channels. Then I stream them from jellyfin to my appletv.
No ads and yt-dlp can use sponsor block to get rid of that part of the video automatically.
Yep this is is what I started doing for my kid’s favourite parent-appproved YouTube channels when the dedicated YouTube Kids TVOs app got discontinued. Everybody is better off.
