One is the fact that millions of Jews suffered massivelly due to the Holocaust and hence are victims of it.
An entirelly different thing is the claim that the Jewish People (i.e. the entire ethnicity) are victims of the Holocaust - in other words, that every single person who is a Jew suffered due to the Holocaust at a such a level that they ALL are victims, even though the vast majority were neither there, close to those who were there or even had their lives negatively affected by it, or in other words, that claim requires that there is some special Racial-transmission mechanism for trauma for Jews (the infamous “Jewish Hive Mind” of anti-semites?)
For the former, it makes sense that everybody who was there (not just Jews, but also those of other targetted groups such as people who are Romani and Handicaped who were caught in the NAZI net) as well as indirectly their dependents and people emotionally close to them who share their pain and those whose opportunities in life were indirectly destroyed by it, are victims of the Holocaust and have a right to complain about it. Always did, always will, IMHO.
For the latter, that’s complete total self-serving bullshit: only a fucking Racist would ever think that trauma and hence victimization is spread via Race. If you weren’t there, aren’t close to somebody who was there and didn’t even have your life somehow be worse because of it, no matter your race you can’t claim to be a victim of the Holocaust and can’t complaint as a a victim about it. If you’re a Jew who had no family in it and didn’t indirectly had a worse life because of it, then your relation to the Holocaust is the same as pretty much everybody else in the World - an outside observer who is entitled to make moral judgements about it.
As it so happens, the situation for the overwhelming majority of Israelis is and has always been the latter since only about a bit over 10% are or are related to victims of the Holocaust, mainly because the overwhelming majority of Jews who moved to Israel did not came from places affected by it.
