Culture is full of ways to resist and subvert authority. Writing and music can inspire, motivate and mobilize people in huge numbers. Even graffiti and street art can just spread ideas with minimal effort. It can raise money and fund resistance.

It’s why a lot of authoritarian governments try so hard to stamp on culture. They know it’s power and they fear it.
